• I've accumulated a good few hubs and rims I won't be using, so have decided to sell them on. Most of the rims are NOS, the rest have had minimal usage, and the hubs are also used (except for the Shimano hubset). Dibs then PM please. Prices don't include postage, from memory the rims will cost £6 each/for a pair, but I'll confirm about this later. Collection from north London welcome:) Forum donation will be made.
I also have several pairs of rim tapes- see the bottom of the list. Also, I'll happily throw in generic Shimano skewers, for any of the QR hubs, if they're needed- and for a cost I can provide Campag skewers for the hubs by this manufacturer. Regarding the NOS rims, these have no boxes/packaging but are true and fully circular as per their being able to be stood next to each other with their sides touching the one alongside at all points. This test shows they're all equally circular, too. If posted, all rims will be delivered in proper wheel boxes for proper protection.

    Mavic CXP33 700C NOS rim
A 32 hole rim. It's v shaped/semi aero and has a machined braking surface. It's fitted with the inserts which the nipple heads push against, instead of the v shaped part of the rim. The rim has been stored properly so, despite their not having their original packaging, they've avoided the scuffs etc items can get whilst being stored. The silver rim in the first pic is sold.
A good selection of hubs available below to lace them to:)
    £15

Sun Mistral 700c x2, one NOS
These are 28 and 32 hole rims. They're box section shaped rims. These are pretty unusual since the standard and commonly used Mistral model is an aero profiled rim- the box section variant ones don't show up as often. And of course the 32 hole rim is a NOS one, which makes this even rarer... The 28 hole rim is a used one, with the brake visible (see pic) only having barely effected its ano finish. It is also a double eyeletted one, whilst its brother has only single ones (the aero profiled one has none at all). And an interesting point about it is that, with it's scant spoke allowance, it is clearly a racing specific rim- so much so that the manufacturer has even badged it 'for race use only'- you've been warned:) Also- see below for a quality Suntour 28 hole front hub also listed. The rims have been stored properly so, despite their not having their original packaging, they've largely avoided the scuffs etc items can get whilst being stored, although there are still a few minor blemishes showing.
    £20 per rim

Weinmann concave NOS 700c rims x2
These are a matching pair of 36 hole rims. These are the classic concave Weinmann rims which are pretty bombproof and found on many tourers where the sturdy design/quite wide profile helps to keep the wheels in true even when supporting fully loaded panniers. And the particular variant of the rim we have here is pretty unusual since it has the rarely found black painted/anodized finish, as well as being a single eyeletted design (not found on the original)- so, perhaps this makes it a later variant of the model. The rims have been stored properly so, despite their not having their original packaging, they've largely avoided the scuffs etc items can get whilst being stored, although there are still a few minor blemishes showing.
    £20 per rim

    Used rims:
All the rims from this point in the thread are used rims as well as 700C size. Details about any brake wear and other marks are mentioned in the individual notes for each rim below, but collectively all the rims are true and fully circular as per their being able to be stood next to each other with their sides touching the one alongside at all points. This test shows they're all equally circular, too.

    Mavic Module E rim
A 36 hole rim. One of the narrowest vintage racing rims you'll find. Single eyeletted. Virtually no signs of braking done on this, a few slight marks to the ano finish is all. One side does show some minor scrapes though- see the second pic which shows the most noticeable of them.
    £10

    Rigida rim
A 36 hole rim. Quite a narrow section rim. Non eyeletted. Looks to be 60's/70's vintage, to me. Hardly any brake wear showing on this, the pads have left faint marks but that is all.
    £6

    Unbranded alloy rim
A 36 hole rim. Quite a wide section rim. Single eyeletted. Probably 70's/80's vintage. Minor signs of braking showing on the braking surface. The rest of the rim is pretty shiny.
    £5

    Pic to follow

  • Miche X-Press track wheel rim
A Miche rim off a Miche track wheel with broken hub. It had had very little use before the wheel was unlaced, so the rim is true and circular. The wheel was also used brakeless, so the braking surface is untouched. It's a 32 hole rim.
    £10.

    Korabar RD1205 rims x2
A pair of fairly modern 36 hole rims. Quite deep 'aero' profile and narrow section. Non eyeletted. These are the machined braking surface type. One of them shows the machining removed a fair bit, the other having virtually no wear in comparison- must have been for front wheel use. The profiled rim surface has one or two marks here and there.
    £6

    Rigida rim
This is a modern 36 hole rim. Single eyeletted. This has been de-stickered, but I know it as a Rigida rim, think it's the Chrinos model. It's the machined braking surface type and these show no visible wear. Can't see any other wear elsewhere either except for the mark from the innertube valve nut being fastened down.
    £6

Shimano 600 and RX100 front hubs
Both 36 hole hubs. These look like they've only had minimal use- mechanically, the hubs are sound, bearings are buttery smooth and the cones/races only show faint circles at the points where the bearings make contact. Cosmetically, the hubs only show one or two marks around their centres. The only noticeable things to mention are some slight marks from spoke pressure on the flanges. Price £10 and £7

    Campagnolo hubset.
Manufacturer is Campagnolo, although I don't know which model, seeing as it's design is one which was identical to many the manufacturer's other models (Xenon, Athena, Chorus, at least) during the early 90's (when these hubs come from)- when the only outward difference was in the design of the skewers each had. Unfortunately, I never owned the original skewers belonging to the hubs:)
Mechanically, everything's in good order. The bearings are silky smooth and threads are fine. Cones and races are excellent with only the circular lines where the bearings make contact- and I've recently replaced the rear's cones with Campag/same model excellent condition ones. OLN on the rear hub is 130mm. I'm happy to include a pair of same type Campag skewers, if they're needed, but obviously this would bump up the price a fair bit.
£18 the pair, or can split.

    Suntour XC Comp front hub
A 28 hole hub. Condition is excellent, with just slight marks around the spoke holes from spoke pressure. The XC Comp model is next in line after Suntour's top of the line XC model, so you know it'll be well made. Bearing condition is excellent and they're recently greased/serviced, feeling buttery smooth.
    £10

Ritchey modern 700C and 650C rim tapes
These are the plastic snap-on type, so not made of glue-backed fabric to be pressed around the rim. Come in a range of colours:)
    £3 each packet of two.

    Maillard front hub
A 36 hole hub. This looks like it's only had minimal use- mechanically, the hub is sound, bearings are buttery smooth and the cones/races only show faint circles at the points where the bearings make contact. Cosmetically, the hubs only shows some fading to the logo on its centre. The only noticeable thing to mention is some slight marks from spoke pressure on the flanges.
    Price £4

    Shimano Exage HB-RM50 hubset
I bought these as a 32 hole NOS hubset, although unboxed and without their original skewers. To be sure of the NOS status, I've checked the cones/bearings and they're unused. Condition elsewhere is excellent also, bar a small dink above right of the rear's logo, due to being stored without their boxes. The freehub body is for 8 speed, and has the same HG feature as mentioned above for the Dura Ace hubset. I've supplied the skewers in the pics- they're same design Shimano ones, and I believe they're of the same vintage as the hubset. OLN 130mm.
    £16

British Hubs (BH) Airlite rear hub with original BH track nuts
This is an example of the small flange version of the famous 50's Airlite. It's the track variant as well though, with the solid axle, despite their being seeming holes in the ends of them:) 40 spoke holes. It's a fixed/fixed double sided design. Cosmetically, the hub is only average condition, with the most noticeable issue being some obvious flaking to the chrome finish. This is a tad better than the above Bayliss Wiley rear though, and also the corrosion has hardly effected the steel underneath the chrome, so IMO the lack of pitting would make for an excellent re-chrome job, if the new owner felt the need. Hub flanges show some marks from spoke pressure. Mechanically, the hub is sound, bearings have been regreased and cones and races show minimum wear with no pitting. OLN is 110mm, and could be shortened/lengthened by a few mm's. Threads are good on both sides, as well as for the axle/nuts, although the axle shows slight worn patches where the dropouts have made contact over the years. I can also include same era track cogs and locknuts, if they're needed.
    £20

    BH Defiance hub to follow.

  • Bargains ahoy

  • Hmmm...

I believe this gentleman purchased the pair of Sun Mistral rims, advertised here at £20 each, from me on eBay in June this year for the grand sum of £3.20 (for the pair).

Likewise, the Suntour XC hub, advertised here at £10, also purchased from me in June for £3.20.

  • person deals bike parts shocker

  • Hmm, I can only put you down to be one (of many these days, sadly) of the type of well known eBayers who attempt to sell their goods using the hit or miss practice of encouraging buyers with very low starting prices on their high quality items in the hope of having the auctions take off (which often happens, but not here) and then in an unprincipled manner refuse to sell items which don't go near the high prices they'd expect (I've left negative feedback for several of these people, and have seen many negs in other's f/b pages). Of course, on this occasion you've actually decided to sell the items in question to me, but it's only due to the reason below...
You've slighted a reasonably priced, organised sales thread selling excellent condition items, because of your undoubted petty attitude. The majority of people- and I feel almost certain you yourself would have been in their shoes- are doing similar business on the site, and they're not being boringly pestered like this. In fact, a similar thing has happened to me on this site on a previous occasion- I can now only feel it's what's happened here is that a certain clique on this site (these types of sites are sadly clique prone) has decided to put their nasty-minded heads together and get cynically calculating, to the effect that they'd take out a pettiness based campaign against me, seeing as they could only be frustrated in their own sales threads when they've found a non clique person like myself with quite a few threads consistently using fair pricing and getting obvious success (and I don't doubt, drawing away some clique shoppers from their 'proper' in-crowd solidarity supporting shopping areas- their own threads) which they have to put a stop to...
Tedious, and I'll tell you straight out that I'll be trading here and enjoying the like minded cyclist atmosphere of these sales threads no matter if a weird minority/clique happens to mar it. The normal, thinking everyday bikers reading this thread will see that comments like yours simply don't happen unless it's for some personal-type reason, and will ignore it- except for the fact that you've damaged the FUN of the place.
    Shame on you.

  • I think your reply pretty much speaks for itself. However, despite your slanderous accusations:-

    1) I list everything I sell on eBay at £0.99 no reserve (apart from the odd BIN), and always honour the bargain - win, lose or draw.

    2) I have 100% positive feedback.

    3) Despite you picking up some great bargains on some great stuff (by your own admission), and my bending over backwards so you could collect and avoid paying postage, you never even bothered to leave positive feedback. (I trust you won't attempt to leave negative feedback now out of spite.)

    4) The purpose of LFGSS, at least as far as I understood it, is not to make money out of other people. That is what eBay is for.

I personally don't have a problem with what you're doing. Equally, you shouldn't have a problem with my providing the information that I did.

  • Oh dear. What speaks for itself is the way in which you've dealt with an argument of the kind that any fair-minded person (happening not to agree with it) would consider worthy enough to argue against or at least think about, and not just dismiss them out of hand.
And then naturally enough followed by glib banal comments regarding how people on this site are doing business.
There is another forum on this site for people to fairly air any concerns or doubts about how people are doing business here. To act with a full awareness in trying to damage a person's reputation and attempt to hamstring his sales threads is of course totally unacceptable, but I can of course see how these are only typical doings of petty minded cliques and I know what society thinks of them, and what ordinary thinking people think of what are never-found-in-sales-forums, so are clearly personal type remarks- therefore, not for the public good- when they find them. People aren't stupid, they can read these things, and also quite easily recognise the involvement of a clique when it exists...

  • What are you on about "clique", i dont see anyone supporting @NLR in this thread, you're acting like a bunch of people are ganging up on you? Lol.

At the end of the day you've bought something for very cheap and are now trying to sling it on here for several times that price. Now you're attempting to turn it round on NLR? All they are doing is informing a potential buyer that you purchased it from them for much less. personally im thankful for people doing that on here, It means prices in general are much more "fair" (as you've stated yours are) and means that people with less knowledge are less likely to pay over the odds for something.

if you want to make profit from the forum thats fine, but atleast offer something in return, a forum donation maybe? If you're not happy with the forum's community vibe then maybe you'd be better off on ebay.

  • The other chap who’s written before yourself has taken it upon himself that he should ‘prove  himself’ (talking about this ebay activity) of not being a person likely to do the Ebay unscrupulous behaviour I suggested he may well  be doing. He seems self-conscious. I myself have not thought to do similar 'proving' behaviour though- as how you've hinted, saying I've tried to "turn this around" on him- to accuse this guy of hypocrisy per my mentioning his quite probable wrongdoing- it's not a matter of hypocrisy, just simply that this wrongdoing as they interpret it (inappropriate selling on LFGSS that's not profit orientated) just so happens to be the thing which would give a clique a chance opportunity to attack me that they couldn't possibly let slip by. I have not felt it necessary to say where I stand and defend myself, as I don't consider that anyone involved in the argument could possibly believe there's wrongdoing in the issue of proving who's a genuine bike enthusiast or cynical money grabber. No, I only feel I should say is that it’s of course possible to have a hand in both the above camps; as how the presence of the many bike shop employees (naturally, having lots more bike parts than the average person) present on the site, regularly selling stuff here, should testify. None of these or similar people are (or have ever) being made to ‘prove’ anything; so, therefore, when we see a situation come up when apparently a ‘proof’ is required, this can only be perceived by reasonable people as not being done to help the public good, but would instead be only a pretext (of the type generally recognised as organised by a clique; not usually capable of being done by an individual, since he wouldn’t have the group organization and encouragement acting without others, as he does) to cover up for certain other tedious motivations that are desired by the attackers- in this case, I've suggested a likely reason; and I stand by this...
And about fair pricing- I can only say that, again, nobody is questioning what would be correct/wrong behaviour- the only realistic belief I can perceive that the average reasonable minded person would consider is that the clique are securing their own interests of selling their own bike bits with them/their crowd keeping the monopoly on who sells, without any clique outsiders, like myself, encroaching on that... Just typical 'look out for our own' behaviour- but made all the worse, with the style they employe .  do this behaviour, with them having the gall to try and attach a moral cover-up for it. Just disgusting. Of course, after now advertising this info, I will naturally feel motivated just to carry on selling my stuff here not only because I've come up against this awful crowd, but because others like myself will now be encouraged to sell things just to stick it in the face of people such as this:)

  • Dude. Seriously. Relax.

    1. There is no conspiracy here, no clique. The world is not out to get you. Its just a fun, free site where like-minded people often like a bit of banter.

    2. Neither myself nor the gallant hp93 (cheers, bro!) could give a f*ck if you want to trade on here; you're more than welcome to. In order to do so successfully, however, it would probably help you to know and understand the unwritten rule that if you happen to buy something in a public forum (e.g. eBay) and then subsequently try and on-sell it here at a profit, then you run the risk of a roasting. Simple.

    3. You may want to consider trading in the reverse direction? Just an idea...

    4. Maybe get on your bike and ride till you wanna throw up, or punch a heavy bag for half an hour, or something/anything and get rid of whatever it is that's bugging you.

    Life is too short, bud.

    Truce.

  • That's right- stick up for the community: in reality your only one is the clique. And the unflinchingly bigotted, typical one-mind clique like mentality is of course supremely in evidence with your not trying to argue my reasonable argument for the clique's existence:
as I mentioned earlier, here we have the repeated ad nauseum stance of not dealing with an argument of the kind that any fair-minded person (happening not to agree with it) would consider worthy enough to argue against or at least think about, and not just dismiss them out of hand.
The portion of society who matter don't like cliques.
And, as I've already mentioned, your glib and banal talk about making profits is childish and misconceived- you're insinuating without the least shred of evidence that my intention from buying whatever items I've bought was simply to re-sell. You're simply making a wild accusation, of the kind which I can't ever see you doing with the earlier mentioned bike shop guys also selling a fair bit of stuff on the forum- this is the reason why the suggested 'roasting' attacks never actually happen in real life- which everyone figures out (when they actually see one) that it will merely be some personal/clique-involved attack, and casually ignore it. It's this preposterous wooly thinking and lock-jawed bigotted attitude which will always tell on you when you enter into conversation with people not of this mentality- people who like to be around normal people.

  • @walkmanman I think you need to stop reading conspiracy theories.

  • Weekend bump

  • I'm interested in the airlite hub.

  • Airlite hub sold!

  • Deleted cos my point was superfluous

  • Deleted cos I couldn't be bothered

  • Yes, in fact these are only 7 speed, as you say- rather confusing seeing as the freehub body length actually is pretty identical to an 8 speed one, but what prevents an 8 speed cassette fitting is a deep spacer type arrangement that leaves a good few mm's between largest cog and the spokes:) I had thought of fitting a NOS 8 speed freehub body to the hub, but the faff involved isn't really worthwhile just so I can sell the hubset.

  • Thread closed: a good number of these parts are now up on Evilbay (listings are mostly incomplete, soon to be updated), together with quite a few touring bits and more.
