My first roadie revisited

Posted on
  • 2010, I was 15, first roadie was bought from all my saved up money + parents helped me out on my birthday. It's a bike from Decathlon, a Road Sport 2 (2009) model, came with full Sora 3400, so pretty low-end. Frame is aluminum, rear and front forks are alu/carbon composite. The thing weighs around 9.9 kilos. Horrible low-res picture, but that's the only stock one I could find.

Now due to me being kinda lazy and really fed up with all the careless and/or agressive drivers, I've stopped road cycling in late 2011.
Since then 2 long, wide and generally good quality cycling lanes were built around my town, so it's time for to get in the saddle again.
My parents love cycling as well so my mom took my bike back then, made some tweaks to it and rode it until last year, but she doesn't ride it nowadays, so I took it back.

First step was to remove (almost) all the pink/magenta stuff.

Then I have installed a proper rear brake caliper. This Veloce has a really good price/value ratio and I bought it for around 10 EUR used - honestly it's like new. I'm on the hunt for the same front brake as well for cheapz.

Next stop was fitting the bike for myself, adjusting the saddle position and tweaking the stem and bars a bit. It'll probably still need some touches later on.
    Then I've cleaned the chain.
It still had one pink bit - the bar tape. Had some leftover black tape from other bikes, and did a quick wrap. The black is temporary, I'll try to look for the same yellow as the saddle.
Btw the stem is short because I'm not very flexible and I have quite short arms.

I needed a better rear derailleur, went on a search, found one for cheap. Yesterday the 105 RD-5701 has arrived...

    ...with trashed out jockey wheels.
So I've put the Sora back on until I get some new jockeys..

So right now it looks like this:

    Anti to the max, haha.

So yeah, the next step will be either saving the rear derailleur or getting another one.

    Bikecheck so far:
B'twin double butted aluminum frame, alu/carbon composite forks and seat stays
    3400 Sora groupset
B'twin front, Campag Veloce rear brake caliper
    B'twin pedals
    B'twin rims and hubs (32H)
    Schwalbe Lugano 23C tyres
    Selle SMP Extra saddle
Trinity stem, B'twin ergo handlebars (44 cm c-c)

  • 105 derailleur fixed and installed, doesn't look good but shifts pretty well. More random pics.

A tobbi bringara szant penzt inkabb ebbe pumpalom. Ez meg rondabb, es mar lassan nincs rajta gyari cucc, de imadom. :)
Koszi a tanacsokat amugy, mindig ertekelem a konstruktiv kommenteket.
