If anyone has some mad light bits
There's an Si Hollowgram crank for sale on 'ere.
-
• #4
They aren't that lightweight are they?
-
• #5
Sorry, yeah, the Si Hollowgram is pretty light, probably a smigeon lighter than an FSA SLK setup - as long as you use an OPI single direct mount ring. Way ahead in terms of stiffness and radness.
The Si SL2 Hollowgram will be much lighter, but spendy spend spend.

Haha, was bummed out about only saving 21g by spending £££, then I noticed I had my wheelset in the spreadsheet twice. Should be around 5kg with the current plan.
-
• #7
They are nice, but there's a pair of FSAs on ebay for £100 that are the right length and BCD for a N/W chainring I already own.
-
• #8
That's a pretty good saving to have made wish I could get my wheels down to 50% of current weight (HC Unicycle anyone?!)

Once you've sold on the 52/36 spidey you wouldn't be too much out of pocket, but fair enough no point spending when you don't need to.

Bike Whisperer says 170mm, one doesn't argue with Scherrit.

pfft what does that guy know ;)

Got SRAM Red cranks, 180g SRAM Red cassette, bar end shifters, N/W chainring, carbon bullhorns, seatpost, cables, brake levers, titanium parts for my Speedplays and some aluminium chainring bolts all on the way in the post.
Just need a SRAM Red 22 rear mech now.

• #13
Spreadsheet says 4997g.

Take the paint off....
-
• #15
Is tubeless lighter or not?
-
• #16
What bars did you go for? Deda Dabar has always been my hypothetical upgrade.
Speedplay with Chinese Ti axles are around 175g.
Tubs please.
When you beat me I'll be sure to report you to CTT for crosstop levers ;)
-
• #17
These dodgy Aliexpress ones, 160g. I've only got little arms so I doubt I'll pull them apart. Been fine on the Fauxnago TT bike.
These crosstop levers are the secret weapon! £15 and 4g heavier than fancy carbon TRP ones.

• #18
Can you take it off before I come over tonight?
oo-'er
-
• #19
Maybe. Tubs would be lightest but I've got these wheels, tyres and only need the Conti Supersonic tubes to make them as light as they can be. I ride to races so I'm not gonna risk tubs.

I reckon I could get a fingertip to them while on the curves...

You've got me thinking about the seta now....

5.2ish...
All going to plan I'm picking this frame and forks up from @eyebrows next week.
If my research is correct the weight of the frame and fork is around 1100g. As I got my Look 586 (1300g F&F) down to about 6.4kg without much expense or work I reckon I can get this under 5kg.
The plan is:
FSA SL-K Cranks 407g
SS Components N/W Chainring 56g
Chainring Bolts 20g
TRP RL956 Cross top levers 86g
SRAM SL-500 bar end shifter 77g
Chinese Carbon Saddle 98g
Planet X CNC Brakes 200g
i-Link Cables ~100g
Speedplay Zero - maybe tuned <200g
Ryde Pulse Sprint / Bitex Hubs 1250g
Veloflex Record 23mm 300g
Latex Tubes ~140g
Unknowns / Not Got
Seatpost, 27.2mm
Stem
Bullhorns
SRAM Red Rear Mech 143g
SRAM Cassette 155g
Here's the actual spreadsheet - without Ti axles etc for pedals it's sitting at a shade over 5kg...
This is the vibe - Pete Tadros' bike from 2015. Mechanical 1x11 with a bar end shifter.
Yes, I know I could go lighter with tubs but I'm not going to.
If anyone has some mad light bits they can spare for a few months and very few miles, lend them to me! I'll be riding under the LFGSS CC banner so you'll be doing us all a service.
Forgot to mention, I'll be racing the Urban Hill Climb up Swains Lane at the end of September, as many opens as I can get to and the National Hill Climb on the 31st of October.
