Try removing the forks first. You'll find the bearings much easier to remove.

Hi, yeah the fork has been removed but bearings are wedged in.
I never had a problem removing a headset before because they normally just pop out so I thought it was something to do with these unusual cups, maybe I just need to try harder!
I noticed my headset is grinding a bit and it sounds like there's sediment in there or something so I'd like to take a look at the bearings to either clean or replace them. I don't necessarily want to take the integrated headset cups out of the frame but I can't seem to get access and remove the headset/bearing ring from the cup - it's like they're wedged in or stuck inside the lip of the chrome cup, is there a trick to getting these buggers out?
