Steel 1 inch threaded fork

  • For 700c wheel and standard short drop rim brake. 28c ability ideally. Don't know about steerer length, but not much I would imagine (don't have the frame yet)

    Pickup in London
Alternatively, can anyone tell me if this will work? Description mentions everything, including 26 inch, 700c and 27 1.25 wheels which makes no sense to me

  • I have some if you Blaze's dont work for you.

  • Pics? Price? Pickup?

  • All good questions.
I'll pop up the shed ASAP but it's peeing down at the mo'.
From memory I have a nice set of mid blue R531's, they have a few scratches but no dinks so not perfect cosmetically but not beaters either. No eyelets. Price £12? pickup either E11 or EC3M.
I have some others but I'll need to have a dig in the shed.

    What's the frame?

  • Cheaper the better, as long as they work.
Can't work out how to embed from flickr but its this frame, picked up off here. Although a mate has it so I can't measure HT length yet, nor do I have a headset yet so don't know stack height of that

If the fork is long enough I would consider using it threadless having cut the threads off (this is possible right?)

  • Er, apologies, butting in here if... the Reynolds 531? Wouldn't happen to fit a 110mm head tube (small-ish frame)? Scratches not a prob as will be repainting :-)
    Second dibs, obviously, after @Turkish!

  • If the rain eases I'll measure but it's bloody heavy at the mo'

  • :-) p**ssing down here and blowin' a gale...

  • I think you'd need to fit a star nut thingy in the steerer tube? Then you can fit an ahead set stem combo. Last one I did I got the very helpful LBS to put it in - bought the nut from them, asked them to fit it. They have a special slide-hammer-type tool that makes it a 2 second job. After I broke one and jammed it in trying it myself. Grr.
@Scilly.Suffolk is my go-to for tech questions...

  • Yeah I get that I'd need a star nut. More whether the steerer would be designed to withstand clamping, where normally it would only be expanded from inside. I have very little experience of 1 inch evidently

  • And me :-) Wish I new more than sweet f.a. about metallurgy. Again, apologies for cutting in.

  • @turkish sorry missed your post I'd say my forks would fit but I'll do a pic asap.

  • steerer 160mm bang on, 42mm of thread. 26.4 crown race.
    @turkish PM incoming

  • Hey swampie, thanks for these. Was looking for something with a slightly fancier crown type of thing and R531 material. Will keep searching :-)
