I thought I'd do something really nice, and knowing my partner wanted a bike basket, I bought and fitted one while she was away. I bought one that could be removed and used as a shopping basket, and to allow for easy storage, but also locked onto the bike for a lack of hassle while you're out and about.
My kindness was unappreciated, and the gift was never used. There is a semi-good reason for that, which we will all be familiar and empathetic with as bike riders - it didn't quite look right. The fitting is right in the middle, so the top of the basket sits a bit higher than the handle bars, and that isn't good enough (see below). Try as I might, I can't argue against an aesthetic complaint, having just bought a new, slower front wheel for my TT bike because it matches my rear wheel better.
I am happy to kindly pass this on to you.
The basket has never been used, the bracket has been fitted and dismounted. New, the basket would cost around £40-50, and the locking Klickfix about £20.
I'll offer it all together for £45, and spend the money on something nice for myself instead.
Collection from Forest Gate (E7), and if you want I'll fit it for you too.
