I actually have a threaded carbon fork- but is your 110mm measurement correct, must be one of the smallest sizes of road bike, if it is?
-

Ah, just checked and indeed the bit of the frame the fork tube goes into is 110mm between where the headset bits fit it. It is an '83 Raleigh 501 tubed frame but the forks the heavy steel original. The frames 52 ctc so rather petit!

That's going to make your search a bit harder then. Although, I'd say you've a fair chance of picking up a suitable steel fork, especially since there's plenty of lo-pro bikes/parts sold on the forum, and these have steerer tubes a good deal shorter than road bikes. And you might also score if you can find a fork with the threading extending half the way/further down the steerer tube, since you could then cut the tube down to remove the length not needed for your frame. And I actually have one like this, but... it's unfortunately only a very basic steel chromed one, so I don't think this matches your criteria. Anyway, I've just now spotted your other wanted ad for a Campag cassette, so PM if you haven't already picked one up.

Ah, ok, well this is all really helpful to know, cheers walkmanman. I'll keep looking for a lightweight steel fork (have a tube-cutting guide-thingy so no problems).
Now, that cassette - what'd you have? -
• #6
PM re; the cassette!
-
• #7
I've got two forks here, asking £10 each
Will measure the steerer for you
@walkmanman what length is your carbon fork? Could be interested if it's not right for op
-
• #8
Chrome, nice! What's the weight of the square-crown one at the back?
-
• #9
I think you said you'd PM'd me, but nothing's come through.
@MCamb the fork's steerer measures 173mm- but I have an idea that there could be a problem you hadn't expected with the forks- just that they're coloured yellow, wouldn't have been an issue for the op chap since he'd explained he'd repaint whatever fork he'd be buying.

I've a light alu fork that's pretty classic in profile if that serves. I think it's got about a 190 steerer of which 45mm is threaded so might just be enough.

• #11
Dunno I'm afraid, will have to weigh them when I'm next able to
-
• #12
Ah, sorry, ok :-)
-
• #13
Got a picture you could send?
-
• #14
Oh. Did you get a message?
-
• #16
Ah too short for me unfortunately!
-
• #17
Righto
-
• #18
Nope...
-
• #19
Er. Ok, not sure what went wrong there. Did this work?
-
• #20
Think we'd better give up on this one:)
-
• #21
Noooo! Would like to persevere, if that's ok?
-
• #22
Not really. Someone else has responded to your wanted ad anyway.

Ah, cheers swampie. Will pass on this one, looking for something with a square-ish 'crown' (is that the right description for the bit at the top of the forks where it meets the steerer tube?).
If there is there such a thing (carbon, that is) does anyone have one? What to use my ITM stem and bars combo. Failing that, a light steel one. Condition is less important here as I'll repaint that. Oh, steerer tube is about 110mm.
