Condor Bivio-X Brakes

  • I have the above bike with 105 sti shifters, condor branded v brakes and h plus son rims.

I am having some serious issues with the brakes. Front was causing the bike to judder and shake under hard braking which has been improved by toeing the swisstop blue pads in. Stopping power of the rear brake is non existent.

Would something like the SRAM shorty ultimate with a softer compound pad improve my braking significantly or should I just bite the bullet and go disc? If disc what would be preferred options?

    Cheers

  • Are 105 brifters V-brake compatible? I wouldn't think that they'd pull enough cable.

  • As FFM mentioned I think your issue is that the brifters don't have the right cable pull for v-brakes... using a set of mini V-brakes or Problem Solvers will sort that out though.

  • Sorry I should have been clearer. They are mini v's.

  • Anyone else got any advice on the above. Struggling to find a good solution.

  • Which 105 is it - 5600, 5700 or 5800?
5700 and 5800 have the longer new Super SLR cable pull and so will work with mini-Vs (I'm running 5700 levers with 90mm TRP CX9 brakes and they're great). 5600 don't have the longer pull and need shorter arms (<84mm). If you're running 5700/5800 with the shorter arms then you might have insufficient mechanical advantage and it'll feel underpowered.

Do the rims have machined sidewalls? If there's anodising then it'll brake like wank.
