How do you mean?

Before anyone asks, I'm turning clockwise...
The lock ring unscrews anti clockwise of course, how are you holding the freehub? I would suggest something like an oil filter strap wrench.

I'd wrap an old inner tube around the freehub and use any sort of wrench (preferably a plumbers monkey wrench) which should work. Hopefully, it would provide enough "give" to get a firm grip without damaging anything, as long as the lock ring isn't too tight.

Stick it in a vice and turn the wheel.
Is a good way to strip the threads on the lock ring. It is not a freewheel. -

I'd lol if that's done up to 40nm.

I'd go with the inner tube idea or i was thinking some short lengths of wood parallel with the grooves in the freehub to give a bit of bite.

Not if you are careful and know what you are doing........
But of course turning the wheel the correct way to remove the lock ring i.e. anti clockwise will acheive nothing as the wheel will turn freely as the freehub will do what it is meant to do, turn freely in an anti clockwise direction. In this case people may be tempted to turn the wheel the other/incorrect way against the action of the freehub pawls so they feel resistance with the chance of now either breaking the freehub pawls or stripping the threads on the lock ring.

freeze the lockring somehow ice, liquid nitrogen etc.
should shrink it slightly and loosen it a tad, making it easier to undo -

Get a cassette. Slice it in half. Attach half of cassette to freehub with zip-ties. Remove lock ring the normal way.

Have you tried to use a normal fixed gear lock ring tool to get hold of the splines of the body?

Big shout out to Big Dave @ LMNH. Sorted.
As above. Bought a new set of wheels yesterday the seller left the lock ring attached to the freehub but for the life of me I can't remove it.
Is there a way to remove it without fucking the freehub up?
