As you have discovered it is generally the NDS that gets fucked up, so there tends to be a reduced market for DS cranks.
-
• #3
I actually never knew that but now I do. It was Evanscycles who fucked my NDS crank. Was a pain to get them to compensate.
-
• #4
80%?
You're taking the piss.
How many people do you think want half a chainset?
Was a pain to get them to compensate.
So effectively free: stick it on eBay (no auctions on here).

Well assuming it's cranks and rings, there's a bit more to it than the NDS I guess...

Well posted here as it's just a guess and wanted a better estimate from others.

You think I got a DS for free? Hilarious. Am going to stick it on sites, never planned to here.

Sure: DS crank, chainrings & chainring bolts.
Even so, the market for half a chainset is pretty limited, at best.
-

On the face of it, the DS half is worth more (crank, chainrings, chainring bolts).
But even if you disregard the particularly limited number of people who might be after what you have, 80% is unrealistic.
You think I got a DS for free? Hilarious.
So Evans wrecked your cranks. And Evans compensated you for it (albeit reluctantly). And you bought a new chainset.
Did Evans pay for a new chainset, or just contribute 20%?
Am going to stick it on [other] sites, never planned to [sell it] here.
You created an account on here just to ask for our advice, but weren't then going to offer it up?
Why don't you fuck off to [other] sites and get their advice then?

Not sure why you're so hostile.
If you had just responded with

I would have thanked you and moved on. Yes 80% is probably unrealistic, hence I've posted this to ask.
Evans said they could source a crank but it would take weeks. After a lot of going back and fourth they would go on eBay and reimburse me the cost of a used crank if I purchased a new chain set.
No I had no intentions of selling it here. I made an account, went on the classifieds section and I'm guessing because this is a new account I can't post there. So I posted this thread to get an idea of price.
Will happily fuck off if there are loads of people like you.

People who buy those left crank arm only power meter things? Dunno...
-
• #11
Quite possibly, but people tend to buy the PM to match the cranks they have, rather than the other way around.
Either way, small market.

Blunt, not hostile: I don't owe you anything.
You haven't rummaged in your parts box and given me the widget I needed; you haven't posted a scan of an obscure catalogue so I could check a detail; you haven't spent your time patiently explaining the blatantly obvious to me.
You haven't even made me laugh.
Instead you turned-up with £-signs in your eyes and calmly announced that you didn't intend to have anything else to do with the place.
And you expect the courtesy of friends?
I just spent five minutes on eBay and found a couple of DS that recently sold for around £50 plus postage.
Discounting eBay/PayPal commission and fees, suggests £40 plus postage is reasonable.
You're welcome!

Blunt? Ok whatever you say mate. You don't owe me anything, but does that mean you're a jerk to anyone who doesn't owe you anything?
Sound very selfish to me. Won't help anyone if they haven't helped you first.
calmly announced that you didn't intend to have anything else to do with the place.
Quote when I said that. I said I didn't plan on selling them here as I follow rules and I'm not permitted to post it on the classifieds thread.
Anyway to update anyone who cares, sold for £90 BIN + £10 postage; had it on auction with 99p start but some randomer couldn't wait I guess.

What a mug, bought mine (full set) for £50. eBay is weird.

well you are an "ex-top seller" according to your own listing...

That's just strange and they're hardly out of Ultegra 6800 chainset.
I bought a 6800 chainset and only needed the non-drive side crank. Looking to shift the drive side crank/chainrings. What would be a fair % of the drive side in cost be? 80%?
