Following with interest. Thinking a caad disc will be my next frame
-
• #3
Discs? Aren't they vintage now?
-
• #4
Also interested in how this turns out. Are you sure this frame is compatible with cable discs? Ive heard there can be problems with rear cable routing

I've seen various responses. Guess it depends on flexibility of compressionless brake housing vs hydraulic hose.
Hopefully with the 24mm spindle of the ultegra cranks I'll have more flexibility. Hoping to use the wheels mfg bb adaptor.

What riding you doing on this machine to warrent disc brakes?
-

Scottish roads.
Been eating rim brake pads like cookies this winter.
My other bikes are a
Genesis Equilibrim w mudguard and 28 tyresGiant Propel - limited to 23mm tires. Silly v brakes

Yeh fair enough. Your roads are paved with shite

Also subbed. About to press go on a Mason frameset but installing discs/internal di2 for the first time.
-
• #12
That is crazy cheap. Just go hydro I'd say. Sell me the shifters ;)
-
• #13
Make me an offer. ;)
Once I get them I'll take some photos for you
-
• #14
Yep, PM me .. I'd be keen. Go with either R785 or go big with the new DA .. pricey but then your frame is relatively cheap.

Got my Challenge Paris Roubaix tyres now 27 mm 320tpi tan-walled
-
• #16

Frame arrived and am slowly getting the parts together.
Annoyingly as I didn't research before I won on ebay, the flatmount spyres I got cannot be used on the post mount fork. So I'll be having one caliper for sale/trade.
The paint on the frameset seems to have been applied off centre so the strip down the top of the downtube is at an angle, I'll see what sigma sport say today.
Currently waiting on the the post for:
wheels mfg BB
wheels mfg bb adaptor for bb30a to shimano 24mm
Cannondale c2 handlebars
cannondale c2 seatpostNeed to still get:
Wheelset - on the fence to go for something cheap and chearful for now or get some DT 350s with carbon rims from 23mm
TRP spyre post mount for fork
Road pro cable set
Compressionless brake housing long enough for run to rear caliper. Thinking ripcord mtb.Anyone know where you can get just the outer?

• #20
Are front and rear calipers the same?
-
• #21
Let me know how you get on with the tires on Scottish roads. Looking for a nice wide durable but fast gumwall tire.
-
• #22
Sadly not. The front is post mount. The rear is flat mount.
-
• #23
From the reviews I have read this tyre might not be the most durable, but is supposed to be super supple and fast.
-
• #24
But if the set of flat mount calipers you've got, are they 2 the same or front and rear specific
-
• #25
The two calipers are the same, the front one comes with the small adaptor needed to put it on a flat mount fork.

With all the chat on the forum about how people are going back to rim brakes, I thought I better find out what all this disc brake road bike malarkey is all about.
Current Build Plans
Either going with R460 rims or splashing for some 38mm carbons, not sure what real benefit is for same weight
I realise hydro would be the ideal way to go, but I'll try this out first. If wanting more I'll try and sell the DA 9001 shifters and get the RS685s
Will share pictures as parts come in and build gets put together.
