From Titanium CX to Tourer

Posted on
  • So, I've being using the Ti Pickenflick CX bike as a everyday bike and as a tourer for almost 2 years and I love to pieces, it's not heavy, it's stable and it's lively. The problem is that it's quite impractical, there are no eyelets for mudguard and no eyelets for racks (front or rear). My solution so far was fitting a quite large handlebar (44cm) so I could fit a rucksack at the handlebar when I travelled and commit deeply to bikepacking and carry a backpack when I'm in the city.

Last year I was involved in an accident where I t boned a car @ 40 km/h, it was quite nasty resulting in a broken clavicule (second time now), and I didn't send the fork for inspection and is being bugging me ever since, so I finally decided to purchase a new fork so I could buy some piece of mind and also I could fit everything I needed to make my steed more practical.

    The plan:

    • Change the current fork for a Rodeo Spork (bought)
    • I have 2 options that I need to decide: Change the current QR hub on my Cosine front wheel so I can fit a 15mm through axle or change the front wheel entirely
    • I'm contemplating fitting a dynamo hub so I could fit a front and rear light and possibly in the future fit a usb charger (I still don't know if it's worth the investment). Still need to research and decide which I need. Suggestions?
    • Buy a front rack and mudguards: it would be awesome to buy a Spz Pizza Rack but if someone knows good alternatives I'm open to suggestions
    • Change the Schwalbe Marathon Supreme 32c for a Compass 38c when they wear out

Here's the bike @ my trip through Italy last year

    Here's how I use everyday
