No it isn't.

I'm sure I've got a couple of pairs of these attached to rims with period tied and soldered spokes......I didn't realise the value!
Is it better to split from the rims and sell em then?

A lot depends on the make and condition of the rims. If they need rebuilding because of the condition of the spokes, then yes definitely better to strip them. Apart from anything else, it is a lot easier and cheaper to post hubs than it is to post wheels, especially overseas.

I have one pair of pista and a matching pair of road wheels, very old handmade Rory O'Brien's.
Both 36hole.....the trouble is, it will be a while before I can dig them out....then I am loath to strip them from the rims, as I think they will clean up well....they are true as anything, and spin forever too! This is my main trouble.....I am a hoarder.

I have a few Campag Record Pista High flange -all on wheels and all in very good corrosion-free condition -good threads etc - Most are in pairs but if I check and find a rear on it's own I could remove hub.
All are tubular and all the wheels are very good throughout. Some have new tubs and have been used recently -some tied and soldered I think - I will check what I have as I'm just tidying front room now and I can't remember everything in there - I even have a Fir track disc in 130 rear and another 130mm track wheel (made for hill climb)
if I can be of any help let me know.
pS I do have one solo rear Campag Record High Flange excellent condition on Nisi Toro rim
