1989 Panasonic Track

  • Hi!

Just picked this up from NJS-Export:

It's tough to catch the ivory paint on camera, but it's sort of an ivory pearl finish. Picked it up as a 51.5. 51.5 ST 53 TT. 110 rear. As you can see it's not in perfect shape, but I'll end up riding it a good amount, so wasn't looking for pristine condition.. might try and do that in the very far away future. My last bike fixed gear was a fuji feather, so this is a considerable upgrade for me!

I definitely will be running risers on this bike. Other than that, I haven't made any concrete decisions. I'm looking forward to keeping this thread going so I can look back on any good or bad decisions I may have made. Enjoyed much older Panasonic NJS thread that ended in a bike size issue.. hoping that doesn't end up happening to me, haha.

  • Lovely! I had one of the newer Pana's and it was great. Love the dropouts and BB shells they make. Hope it rides well and look forward to seeing some pics of it built up! T

  • @Alphaone most likely.

Although I think some silver 75s/black sl42s with silver spokes and silver risers with black grips and black saddle would look tidy.

@tomsvoboda thank you. I'm pretty excited to build it up.

  • Nice, I like a good Panasonic. Classic NJS in my eyes, especially in that colour scheme.

  • Well 7 months later!

Took me awhile to save for all the parts, but finally (for the most part). Still waiting on a silver stem and still trying to figure out which saddle to get.. grips are in the post.

Even though I'm waiting on those things I couldn't help but ride it to work this morning. Smooth as butter. I've been getting lazy and commuting on a Pinnacle (which is where the saddle is from lol) and almost forgot what it's like to be in a more aggressive position.. let alone brakeless.

I'll post up again once everything is final!

ignore the rim sticker residue, oh and managed to secure a phil wood lock ring and 19t cog for like £30 total.. amazing.

  • that's just b-e-a-utiful!

  • Looking great - would love to see a few more phots when it's 'done done'.

  • @doomguy @CallumR thanks for looking. Here it is in its "final form" .. for now of course.

  • figured I'd post another one.. only change is the stem and bars.. got some different grips coming in this week more long style without the oury ends

  • Looks really nice. What are you doing about a front brake?

  • thanks, @cw2 I'm not

  • Great job. Love things like the little brace across the stays on the BB
