• The clear-out continues..... My sentimentality is costing me c £400 in storage costs per month so need to rationalise the collection and also have another baby on the way so this money could be spent on better things.

This was my first bike in London and estimate that I've probably ridden 10,000 + km on it commuting. It's been through the Kent lanes to Shoreham and also to Brighton. You'll get hugely fit riding it as it's so goddam heavy. It's also probably been to every pub in London.
It's comfy, the frame is indestructible and (arguably) stylish.

If Dutch bikes are your thing, then read on...

It's a Batavus Locarno probably from the 90's.
I'm 5' 11" and it's a good fit but a huge amount of room for adjustment both ways.
Sachs's Pentasport 5 speed internal gear coaster brake hub.
    Velo Orange Guards
    AXA Defender Rear Wheel Lock
    Vittoria Adventure Touring 700x35C Tyres.
    28x 1 5/8 Von Schothorst Rims
Permanent (battery powered) D Toplight on rear

    What you need to know:
I parked this up in 2012 when the NDS crank fell off. It's a square tapered pressfit BB and the threads are gone.
Probably needs a new BB at the very least and potentially new cranks. I've got the original cranks and pedals that you can have.
The front wheel is out of true and the rim bent but rideable. New Von Schothorst rims are £25.00 from SJS.
There are 2 broken spokes in the rear wheel but potentially could be trued but not sure. Probably needs to be rebuilt too.
No chain but if I find one in the parts box, I'll throw it in..
I fitted the rear through wheel lock and also new grips and a bell.
I put the VO hammered guards on it too as the originals were knackered. Front is a little squashed at the very front but perfectly function-able.
Saddle has cracks but very very comfortable.
This has been kept inside as long as I've had it.
There's no front brake and you should fit one so it complies with the law and for your own safety.

It's will be a good functional work horse for someone who knows what they're doing to fix the things that need fixing.b

I'd like £14.00 (yes, fourteen pounds) please. Collection only from Deptford Bridge SE8 or I could bring it to you if you're in SE London.
Please only dibs if you actually want it. I'd like it gone ASAP.

  • Il take it.

  • 2nd dibs?

  • 3rd dibs?

  • If anyone sees an enormous 27" Batavus with a wonky rear rack being ridden around London, it's mine. Went missing from outside the office once whilst I was travelling. Great bikes, and this one was a steal...

  • highly unlikely 4th dibs

  • Why 14?

  • Given it's costing me a lot to store it (never going to ride 20 bikes at once) and the amount it would cost for me to get it back on the road (dicks for fingers and having to pay people to work on my bikes), it's not economical for me to repair it to the standard it deserves.
A decent one in top working order would probably fetch £200.00. It would cost me at least that to fix properly paying retail prices. Given this, and the fact I'd like it gone, I believe that value in current state is somewhere between 10-20£ given that it has VO guards. Fourteen sounded bargainous to me so went with that.

  • 14 is such an odd number (not technically). It does sound bargainous.

  • Dibs incase it's still available.

  • Sorry to say it's gone. Collected last night by @87.5 's mate. Hope you get many many more happy miles from it.
