Nice frame. DA group?
-

Was planning 1x but looking increasingly likely that I'll go Force 22 Hydro for the flexibility and the fact that I can actually buy it.
The frame doesn't have flat mounts. Do I need an adapter? What's good?
Also will tanwalls work here? If so what is good for all weather and comes in 28mm. Otherwise, gravel kings.

Get the brown walled gravel Kings :)
-
• #5
Brown? Not sure. Had looked for them before but seem hard to come by.
Anyone got any ideas on the brake mounting?
What mudguards for something with proper mounts? Don't want anything too cheap/plastic looking. -
• #6
Try Superstar components, loads of different adapters.
-
• #7
Shimano has all the adapters, so do sram/avid.
Get VO guards. Or PDW if you want to be flashy.
Why hope hubs? There is literally no point. If you want something nicer than novatec/shimano get DT Swiss.

I do not know about hubs. Supposedly both Hope and DT are a similar price and offer similar quality bearing seals. What is shit about hope and good about DT?

DT350 = cheap
DT240 = Hope level
DT180 = Money gunI'd go 350.
I built mine on Velocity Aileron 28/32 CX rays.

exactly, not as many.

Googles 'broken things', gets pictures of broken things.
Amazing.

My wheelset.
The only reasons I'd chose DT (or novatec) over Shimano CX75 is if you are looking for futureproof-ness. These and novatec can be adapted to anything QR and all thru axle standards. Hope would be too but then pricey for no reason.
6g more than Zipp 30 disc and way cheaper with 28mm deep and 20mm internal rim.

Some personnal experience.
My DT Swiss 240s seem more impervious to the elements than the Hope hubs they replaced. Within a similar time period the Hope's needed a number of new bearings where as the DT Swiss are still rolling smoothly.
DT Swiss 240s, 28/28, Sapim D-Light spokes, DT Swiss 460DB rims. Solid and stiff wheels. Very smooth and no sign of bearing wear. I got the 240s hubs in an eBay bargain. Wouldn't pay RRP.
The Hope free hub noise clears crowds of zombie pedestrians loitering in the road. DT Swiss is pleasantly quiet.

if you go DT be careful with the model hub you buy - they make a few different versions of each one for differing axle standards (i'd stupidly assumed they were all the same hub shell + bearings just with different end caps/adapters)

Picked up some wheels too.

Good choice

Post-mount front and rear. Which is fine I guess. Rival 22 Hydro should arrive today.
Already got: Kalloy Uno stem, Deda RHM02, Lizardskins tape. VCLS copy on the way.
Need: Gravel Kings, Antares saddle (R5?).Getting there.
Was gonna go custom. Hated discs. Ended up getting an ex-demo Pilgrims at a price I couldn't refuse.
