You could buy one of these almost any week on the US Ebay site for half this price, or less, though this is a nice example. 700 pounds would get you a top of the line Serotta titanium frame in minty condition. It's way overpriced at asking...There is a complete one (full Dura Ace 7700 with Mavic Cosmos rims) in mint condition for less than asking on the site just now. There are full bikes -- Otttrott and Fierte and Hors Categorie -- in Ti/carbon for less, also.
Maybe I am getting jaded, but I am finding that asking prices on this forum have spiralled out of control and are so often in the realm of "aspirational" or plain insane, and certainly, often, not good value.
84-05 I'm not criticizing you for listing this at your price. It's your prerogative and you aren't forcing anyone to buy it at this price. Just alerting other forum owners to what I think is real value of this item and some data to back it up. Best of luck with the sale of what is a beautiful vintage frame. Hope you get a good price and someone gets good value on their end, which is what the forum is all about, no?

You have style. This is even better!
This would be about 3,500 US delivered to the UK with shipping and duties, I gather. This is nuts for a restored 3Rensho, despite their obvious desirability. It would be nuts even for one that is nearly NOS with original finish. It will never sell for this price on ebay or elsewhere but, of course, no harm in the seller trying. 3,500 can buy you something VERY special -- either brand new as a custom build, or in terms of a very minty vintage, unrestored frame......A Rene Herse or Singer frame, a brand-new Peter Weigle, a fantastic fully equipped Italian 70s road bike......And (just my taste), I would have to strip that finish and have it repainted!!!!!!! Good luck to the seller; at least he has inspired some fun on the forum.....

We've had this debate before and the fact remains: very few things sell on here above £500, regardless of whether they're good value or not.
People here just don't seem to want to spend that much on a second-hand bike/frame.
This won't sell here at that price, so no point getting worried about it.

Thank-you fussballclub. I try to be informative and cautionary without being inflammatory...
Fizzy.bleach, you are, of course, completely correct. However, with all the pressures of modern life one has to vent about something -- if not the travails of the middle class, the plight of higher education, decaying infrastructure, offensive architecture, or the spiralling cost of prescription drugs, why not the prices asked of vintage/classic bikes?

@fizzy.bleach but it happens isn't it? to sell sth above 500. if sth is worth it and if someone is willing to buy it at the price, i mean that there are some possibilities. i'm lucky or (it's a miracle?) because i've sold here two framesets near 500 and i think both buyers were satisfied. i agree that the price is high, but the object is in my opinion worth it.
why there's always the same issue with such obvious topics.
and to make it a bit less bitter i'll add chris king headset for it.
@Dammit you're welcome

Don't think so.
Next to TI, CSI is top lvl serotta frames. The one i offer is in really excellent condition. So classic, vintage, top of the line and very well preserved.If no luck with selling i'll keep it with no loss. Both suits me.

All sounds good, I thought I'd ask as you mentioned pros but no cons - seems no cons is a good thing. Good for you.
To be fair, I like it. Not making an offer right now but I do like it. -
