Whats your current path racer looking like?
Depends how much cash youre throwing at this, but that enve gravel fork with a 385 a-c would be perfect for 650b 42s.
An enve road disc fork wouldnt accept big tyre 650b would it?

With mudguard? Unknown. I have an Enve RD fork with mudguard- who has a 42/650B wheel I can try in it?

Ok, I'm rather feeling my way with this one, but if you always do what you've always done and all that.
So!
Tyres first, because how could that go wrong? I've been really enjoying the Schwalbe Pro-Ones' on P76 so I'll likely use a pair of "Schwalbe G-One Evo MicroSkin TL-Easy", unless anyone has a horror story regarding them?
Also, how would those work with the ZTR-Arch rims that Branwen posted the link to in the second post, ok?

Compass, dont settle for anything less supple .. will go well with the moustache
-
• #7
That didn't survive the day, and I've heard that Compass are poor at tubeless - is that mendacious?
-
• #8
latex inner? does it HAVE to be tubeless?
-
• #9
Yep. It's the future, I have seen it in the entrails.

Just looking at more rims, have no idea IRL, but these look pretty good on paper

~330g a rim in 650b, almost 100g lighter than most others I've seen -

who has a 42/650B wheel I can try in it?
Ed must have hundreds.
-
• #13
Don't get Stans.
Go super wide rim - WTB KOM.
I really don't know what the "ideal" width is for 42 section tyre - is there a guide somewhere that I can read through?
-
• #14
can you read scoble's soul?
-
• #15
Well these are 35mm on 23 internal. Look fantastic:
-
• #16
Speaking as a self-appointed internet expert, I'd say either 23 or 25mm internal would be best for a 42mm tyre.
-
• #17
I'd get Stan's crest rims, the new version. 23 mm internal, very light and easy tubeless.
-
• #18
^Those are good, as are the KOMs upsidedown suggested, and also Easton Arc 24s.
Or 60mm deep carbon, painted in fluoro...
-
• #19
But which carbon?

Right, it's almost new bike day, I need to get a load of parts.
-

i hope the frame isn't still just a collection of tubes!
what has changed since v1?
-
• #24
If you look at V1 (photographs from the first Bespoked we attended) and then the most recent frames that we've built you can see that there have been a lot of running updates, things like the rear wishbone going from 3 tubes and a cast joining section to two tubes and no cast section, tube selection, and of course this one will be TIG'd rather than brazed.
-
• #25
why tig not brazed? am never sure what the real world difference is.
what tubeset? to be honest, i'd love one of these (or get the 853 all city nature boy disc)
what is the frameset cost from talbot?
Looks like it's the right time of year to build another fast fixed trainer/commuter.
I'm tempted to go back to the balloon tyres of the originals of the breed - so 650B with 42's or thereabouts.
What (carbon) forks are out there that people would recommend for this, and what mudguards?
Also, what rims and tyres? I'd prefer tubeless as they seem to be the future.
