I'm not entirely sure this is Benotto's Triathlon model, but I believe it may well be, going by the fact that nearly all this company's aero tubed framesets, using one tubeset or another, were this. My example must weigh around 24lbs or so, so I'm thinking this must have been built using one of the heavier aero Columbus tubesets (I dont believe the quality could be any less than this, such as the basic/heavy rolled steel tubing Benetto sometimes used, seeing as, despite my frame being in the heavier weight category, the tubing has no tell-tale 'seams', behind the fork blades etc, which rolled tubing always has).
This frame is true, no dings, dents...
The paintwork is original, I think, but it has some paint chips (these have been corrected). The forks look to be chrome underneath the paint, as is the driveside chainstay, should you wish to strip either.
    Pantographed frame and forks
Benotto dropouts (frame and fork too).
Aero seat tube, top tube, down tube and seat stays.
Groupset is Shimano 105, the 1055 early version. It's almost complete, only missing the pedals and bottom bracket. Wheelset is Ambrosio's Extra Super Elite. The cockpit is all 3ttt, and bars are fitted with NOS tape. New cables and SRAM chain have also been fitted. The seatpost is a Benotto's own brand one, and the pedals are MKS.  Tyres are fairly modern Michelin and Innova ones, and the bottom bracket is a modern Shimano cartridge jobbie. Saddle is a San Marco Concor Light.
All parts are mechanically in good, properly set up order, with minimal wear, and everything's been maintained regularly. Parts do show a fair few scuffs though. The bike has six speed gears, and has a Shimano Uniglide cassette.
The 'aero' shaped tubing seems to improve the frame's stiffness IMO, and the bike offers a nippy, responsive ride. And for anyone who might be concerned thinking the the Triathlon model name would mean that the frame was designed for this type of riding's more aggressive/uncomfortable riding posture, as how today's tri bikes have become famous for, I should explain that this isn't the case here since the frame wasn't designed specifically for this type of riding but just for general road bike type riding, with the tri association being simply used as a marketing tool, which was apparently a very popular one with manufacturers in the 80's when the frame was being produced.
