Replacement Specialized Roubaix Frame

Posted on
  • The steerer on my 2009 Roubaix Elite snapped this morning on the way to work (pic attached). Bugger.

Specialized have offered me a new frame as they do not have a fork which is appropriate. Yay!

They have offered me these 2 frames (pics attached).
    1) W773144054 WF-ROUBAIX ELITE CARB/WHT/CHAR 54
    2) W744143154 WF-ROUBAIX EXPERT SL4 SIL/CHAR/RED 54

I prefer the look of the black (Elite) but the silver (Expert SL4) is apparently better quality carbon... Anyone know if there is much difference?

  • That's very good of them, considering its a 2009!

  • Cripes! Was there any indication it was going to go? Did you somehow stay on the bike?

  • Lifetime warranty! :)

Amazingly I didn't hit the deck, bruised my leg a bit. Luckily was just pulling off from lights.

    Went for silver.

  • You have to admire the way Specialized stand behind their product. Good stuff.

  • Yeah, and from the few people I've heard who've used it, it seems like its pretty painless too which is a bonus.
(edit: doh, unintentional dad joke is unintentional)

    @smiff glad you were okay!

  • Cheers Specialized :)

  • How does the frame replacement scheme function? Ie would this be still in place if I was to buy a second hand tarmac or roubaix? Cheers

  • Thanks. So then only brand spanking new then? Any level frame?

  • Not new, just the original buyer

  • And only if you had the bike assembled by an authorised dealer

  • yep, not sure how it works on framesets ..

  • Specialized just need to be able to track the frame to an offical retailer then to you having a recipt from that retailer. My 7 yo Allez frame cracked at rear dropout and I'd changed everything on it including fork and got a F&F replacement no problem
