That's an awfully niche thread. Maybe make it a general Soma Owners thread? Just a suggestion.

Nah. Big up for the W/O/C ers!

Well, you don't see many around (I'm not including the internet), and a Soma thread (maybe it already exist) sounds more appropriate, unless @Tijs and I are missing something... Please elaborate, I'm genuinely looking forward to all the pictures to come either way (Soma or Wolverine)

I think Soma owners club makes sense. I'm all for it.
Mine will get built on friday. Black frame. Most important question: What bar tape colour?

One owner and a fanboy here o/

Rad, what are the gears on that?
-
• #9
Thanks!
The gearing is 42/11-42.
Now, some may wonder why not 2x11 for smaller steps between gears. For me, the mostly used cassette cogs are 15-21 (2 teeth jumps between gears). If you go to a gear calculator site (for example: http://ritzelrechner.de/ ) and regard, say, 46/30 with 11-36 cassette, you can see that there are equal steps between gears unless you use front derailleur to fine-tune your cadence, and I do not see much benefit there. Of course 30T small ring and 11-36 cassette would give a low gear of ≈23 gear inches, but currently I have no need for that.

Yeah yeah, you could say the same about Croix de Fer...
I don't know what I want, and my post was actually inviting you or the OP to explain why a thread for a specific model is more appropriate than a thread for just a brand, this section of the forum has plenty... Three of us so far have asked that question, in a non argumentative manner, without being outraged either way, please kindly enlighten us, serious question... I like Soma bikes generally, and the Wolverine a lot too, maybe they're a legendary model, maybe there's a story behind? -

Wolverine is the greatest frame soma do, IMO. The rest of their bikes are decent, but never coveted any of them. It's not a wolverine or death thread though

Black is the obvious choice. Tan leather can be nice with classic build options that feature chrome bits

I like the orange/black combo-classic without being too pretty true to its functional roots.
The drop bar mode is definitely what I'm going to be building mine up for-got some cowbells on the way and depending on how the frame looks like it will fit when it arrives probably an inline post and slightly shorter stem.

Is that one of the SunRace wide ratio 10spd cassettes?
If so I just ordered one too-how is it?

I like the very discreet stand mechanism you are using ;)
Nice build-may I ask what tyres you're using? Looks like you've still got loads of clearance and the dropouts aren't even half-way back.

Looks like compass to me. Mine are 47mm and there's plenty of clearance without moving the dropouts back

yeah they're compass baby shoe pass extra léger ofc :D
the missus is a better bike stand than what is commercially available..

My frame is being held in Customs : / Thought I'd get it in time for the weekend but looking unlikely now.
How long does it normally take for ParcelFarce to process and release items?
-
• #22
God knows. Probably a year or two max...

All these drop bar builds have got me thinking about converting mine for winter...

Was wondering if someone would post that here. Looks a bit weird to me
Circle jerk for the wolverine fan boys...
