Hello!
We're looking for both a mechanic/workshop manager with good customer skills to join our small, independently run bicycle shop on Bethnal Green Road, Isambard's Cycles. We've been open properly for about 3 and a half years, with a special focus on restorations and custom builds on older frames.
You need to have good knowledge in repairing and building bicycles. You'll be responsible for assessing bicycles as soon as they come through the door, and answering queries customers have. That's why it's imperative you have a friendly manner and enjoy interacting with others.
You'll need to have some organisational skills too, so you can schedule and manage bookings accurately. (this is of course especially true for anyone applying for the workshop manager roll)
What we're looking for:
*Excellent mechanical skills - we don’t have time to train anyone at this time of year, so it’s imperative you hit the ground running.
*Previous experience working in a bike shop is essential if you’re applying for the manager role, and desirable for the mechanics position.
*A willingness to learn and adapt, along with good time keeping and enthusiasm for the job
*Good people skills - your role will include talking to customers both in person and on the phone.
An in depth knowledge of vintage bikes is especially useful. We often service newer ones too, but the majority of bicycles we sell and ride ourselves are older road bikes.
