• I bought this a few months ago and have ridden it for a few months. Handles well and rides nicely but sadly just to big for me really.

There was a fair amount of toe overlap when written with 170mm cranks and largish toeclips (so maybe consider using 165mm?). That said, once `i was used to it it posed me no problems and is was ridden daily in heavy london commuter traffic, so not too bad really.

Lovely Track frame built by JA Holland Birmingham. 23inch c-t seat tube 22 1/2 inch top tube c0c.

I spoke to hJA Holland's son on retrobike and he told me it was most likely built in 1951. (see frame number). Drilled front and rear. I think built for 27inch or sprint wheels but the clearances are pretty close with 27's. Nice clean Oscar Egg lugs. Very light, almost certainly 531 DB.

One of the seat stays has been rather amateurishly cold set in the past, so has a slight bend out but made no discernable difference I could feel to handling/ride. Make the the rear track ends approx. 118mm across. Also, drive side face of bottom bracket shell has a small cut/notch in it where I had to cut out a VERY stuck old cup ( I cut though the cup, not the frame so don't worry). This make no difference and the bottom bracket cups I had fitted screwed up fully tight no problem

Paint is ok, some chips and scratches but not bad, and you can make out the faded shadow of some old decals.

Got something else coming that fits better so need quick sale. Looking for £190 for this lovely rare frame.

  • I'm based in East London. so frame can be picked up there or Greenwich/deptford during weekdays. Can also bring central if really needed.

  • Can throw in a period GB hinduminium stem for free as well, to get you started on your build.

  • very nice

  • price drop to £190. Well worth that, only selling as it just a bit big for me.

  • NO interest at all here really and need to move on so moving to retrobike. Please consider thread closed
