Berma frame internal cable routing

Posted on
  • Hi people, I have just taken ownership of a vaguely aero, steel Berma frame. The gear shifter lugs are mounted on top of the down tube (rather than on the sides) and the cables are routed through the frame's tube. At the bottom bracket the cable exits have a small diameter plastic outer to guide the cable and protect the frame, however at the entrance by the shifters, there isn't any. My question is, should there be a similar outer at the top as there is at the bottom or does the cable run naked at the point of entry from the shifters?
    Thanks for your help, Dallas.

  • I think pictures will illicit some responses Dallas...

  • Here it is as it appeared in Hilary Stone's advert

  • I realise many, many LFGSS members have been unable to sleep due to the unresolved nature of this query, so I am happy to be able to tell you that following extensive research on my part (going on Italian eBay) I have ascertained, within acceptable parameters of doubt, that the gear cable entries do not have a protective outer cable, however in the case of mine, I might add one, if it'll fit.
Sorry to have left you on tenterhooks for so long and thanks for your interest (no, really).
