  • After being T-boned and crushed by a stupid van, my summer bike needs to be replaced, starting with a frame only. If there are added groupset parts that would be a bonus, but i would only consider mid-high end 11 speed groupsets.

I am after something fairly desirable - subjective obviously - to build a fast bike. would consider any material, caliper or discs.
Think mid to high end s-works, bmc slrs, addict, aeroad, etc. you get the idea. If anyone here has an itch to move on from a recent build, that would be a good scenario.

budget for frame up to 1k or more for the nicest of them.

I am 5'11', 180 cm so roughly around 55-56 Effective top tube

    thanks

  • I still my HED R1c still knocking about not doing much. Need to get rid.
Full carbon, has a full shimano 105 5800 11 speed groupset on it at the mo.
    Currently has no wheels tho.

I think its a 54 effective TT off the top of my HED (sic).

  • Want frameset and wheels off this?:
    http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/cannondale-caad6-saeco-25241
    TT measures around 55cm

  • very good shout thks

  • oh i remember this from a while back, in principle it's be great but i think slightly small, would need to try it actually, but you're not in london i think

  • frameset is a possibility (+cranks?), wheels not so as i have spares

  • @LuigiDolomite - Not sure if it's of any interest but I got a Genesis Zero 2 last year that I've not got much use from. let me know if you're interested.

  • to be fair i've never been attracted to the brand, but could be interested in a frameset at a good price

  • Cool, I'll pm you with some options

  • I've a Boxed NOS Scott CR1 SL,(This the top spec HMX variant not the HMF version) it's the largest size they do but I bought it for me at 5ft 11/32" IL and I ride a continental pro team frame that is slightly bigger (& hence why I haven't built this up). The actual c-c is 55cm, c-t is 61cm, I went for the larger frame as it gives you leeway for a more endurance setup and being able to slam the stem.
Even for such a large frame it's 968g actual plus 328g forks so still very respectable, Ritchey WCS headset and Dura Ace press fit BB included with all the tags and seriel numbers.
I'm after £540 collected from North Herts but could drive down at a weekend to High Barnet tube for a few extra quid to cover fuel if you didn't want to trust to courier though it is in its original well packaged box.

  • looks neat, i like the mechanical simplicity and it's a good price, color is right too, but i can't see a frame of that size working for me, 59.5 ETT is way over my limit
    thanks for the offer

  • almost got swedee's caad, but stil looking ! so bump

  • i have a Colnago master - 55cm
Top tube (traditional geometry). Frame bought new 2 years ago and has only been used a handful
Of times. Looking for 800 posted for it.

  • pretty nice, anymore info ? - model, steel, weight, possible link to archive description ? thks

  • Hi Luigi - please see separate thread at:

    https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/280951/

  • thanks
i'm not too knowledgable about colnagos so without the model i can't seem to find any reliable info. weight, tubing etc.
    thks

  • When buying a steel frame you don't care about the weight...

But I think these weigh about 1600-1700 g (frame only).

  • when buying surely not, but halfway through a climb i certainly would ! i think i would discount any frame over 2 kg.
thanks for the info, the frame does look good

  • The frame is the same (other than the colour scheme) as the current 2016 year model colnago master. It is made of the same steel DT15V tubing. My frame is a 2008 model year frame but was bought new about 2 years ago and used a handful of times, before accepting it was too big.

The links below contain more information on the model:

The link below is to my exact frame - still available in the US to buy new for USD$2,999.

  • but halfway through a climb i certainly would ! i think i would discount any frame over 2 kg.

You won't even feel the difference when climbing a mountain when using a 8,5 kilo steel bike in stead of a 7 kilo one. I swapped my 7 kg Cannondale CAAD10 for a steel Colnago Master Extra Light (using the same parts as on the Cannondale) and uphill that didn't make a difference. And I used it for a 175 km Dolomites ride with passes over 2600 m... It's just in our heads. ;-)

  • Still looking, anyone with an urgent summer offer?

  • Over budget, but you could flog anything else you've got lying about to make up the difference, or maybe flog the wheelset.

Canyon Aeroad with Ultegra and Mavic Cosmics for £2150
    https://www.canyon.com/en-gb/road/aeroad/aeroad-cf-slx-6-0.html

£150 less than buying the frameset alone.

    Edit: Sold out

  • Yep I presume a bulk buy from RCC... thanks for the input !

  • It's flitting in and out of stock. Back in large just now.
