Are you going along the coast or via Seville?

I went from Bilbao to San Seb a few years ago and have ridden the coast numerous times - a right fuckin' rollercoaster it is too...

AirBnB. It's not a great distance between the two, so I left Bilbao and went hell for leather up hill and down dale stopping for a few wines along the way.

Hi there, i can´t give you full info regarding the Spanish coast but regarding the Portuguese coast i can give you a few pointers.
Prepare yourself for a really hot summer. Temperatures in the south are getting warmer by the day, now floating between 28 Celsius and 18 Celsius (http://www.windguru.cz/pt/index.php?sc=48973&sty=m_spot).
Sun is harsh in this area, you will get burned multiple times. Wild camping is ok in Portugal, if you avoid the beach (the more crowded ones). The GNR (police, military ones) are extremely annoying regarding wild camping, so you would be better if you avoid the beach.
You planning on taking the national street? N125 is renowned for being dangerous and having an high death toll. You can avoid it by going almost parallel to the train tracks, not the most scenic route but the most safe IMO. It´s about 60 km to Spain, but a difficult path. I would rather recommend doing the western part of Algarve and then going to Lisbon through the Coastline. A lot more relaxing and with a few climbs and a lot of places to wild camp. Ultraromance did that last year and you can double check in is instagram feed. Food wise go to the supermarket, prices in the Algarve in this period are extremely expensive.
Hope this help, i will try to add more info afterwards. -

Thinking the Kona is the best option at the moment!

I did some touring in Spain last summer, my route was Zaragoza-> Valencia -> Alicante -> Granada -> Malaga. What I did was staying in hostels in the cities and wildcamping inbetween the cities. My experience is that if you're away from the touristic places it's really easy to find nice places to go wildcamping. It's not legal but people don't really care and are really friendly. If you follow the coast there will be campsites along the way (not cheap though).

Hey @inkleined I have booked flights between Faro and Malaga and am taking my bike to cycle between the two!
How did you find your trip? Any advice? Thanks
Has anyone done a trip in the south of Portugal/Spain wild camping?
I'm flying to Faro and leaving from Malaga 12 days later. All booked up for September.
Still have to plan the route and decide which bike to take.
I have a rear rack and two large pannier bags.
92' Kona fire mountain MTB
Peugeot Triathlon 501 Steel
Graham weigh 531 Steel
Any help would be great!
