• FS - my old Elswick Tour Anglais Modele de Luxe from 1959, which coincidently was the year Sheldon Brown got the one which would become his favourite ever bike. This one's a shade over 55cm and has original patina and components - GB MkII brakes, Arret levers, GB Maes bars, 27" rims with 5speed freewheel/fixed hub etc. It's set up as fixed, but I've probably got the original Cyclo Benelux headset, if required. The separate parts would probably be worth more than the complete bike. The rear needs a bit of a true, but it's in decent shape and in use. I'm looking for around £120 for it.

Note: I'm getting rid of vintage stuff, among which are the following - early 70s Holdsworth, 80s Dawes Galaxy, 1950s Dave Davey, 1940s RO Harrison, 1930s BSA Club, early 80s Gazelle Champion Mondial, early 80s Mondia. Message me if any of those arouse your interest.

  • I have pm'd you
    Thanks

  • gb_ in first for the Elswick and I'm responding to messages. Thanks All.

  • The Elswick is gone. Thanks to all. Next up is my Reg Harris Lenton Sports frameset/bike. It's late 40s/early 50s, the 23" model with Reynolds 531 tubing. What's John Lennon got to do with it? Well, he was given a Lenton Sports Model for passing his Eleven Plus and it was a bike he loved and never forgot. In fact, if you listen closely to the song "Drive My Car" on mono, after you've had a few, you will realise that John Lennon is singing "beep beep, beep beep, REG". Legend also has it, that the pay-off line at the end of that particular song was going to be, "but I've got a Lenton and that's a start...", until John and Paul decided to go with something else. Anyway, I digress. It was a mystery, green frame until I started rubbing it down with acetone and discovered the original paint and plumage reasonably intact underneath. It isn't quite finished yet, but it's a nice old thing - having original dyno-hub front wheel hooked up and working, rear single speed (a Sturmey Archer 3 speed can be made available) and original Brooks B15 Champion Standard saddle . £150 for the lot? If not, offers for the parts.

  • What size is the dave davey?

  • sent pm

  • The Davey is 57cm. It's geared at the moment, but as I may need the gears for something else, I'll probably be offering it as a single speed rather than in its original state, unless someone gets in quick.
