If you use the forum's upload function, make sure the files aren't too large (max 3MB). Otherwise use an external image hosting website (such as http://www.imgur.com) and embed the image(s) in your post.

Looks like a Viner 'V' and an early Moser 'M'... I think
So not Mercian... not even English
Have you measured the BB? Looked at the threadings? -

I did look at Viner but the M threw me. I'm told it had a Campagnolo Super record group set.
So you think it's a Viner with Moser forks? It had a 1.370 x 24 TPI BB -

It definitely looks like a Viner V, the M... I've only seen one or two early Mosers where they had a different M than the normal one... like the one on your forks...
I'm totally unsure though, I'll have a little look.
English thread bb though, 68mm shell? -

Nowhere near as early as I thought... but still -

Looks like a Viner Pro 70/80's but they have a star motif/logo? Never heard of Bikesports unless they made up from Viner & Moser.
The guy bought it off was given it by someone that passed so no info. He TTed it in Cheshire in the 80's. Same era I was time trialing. -

Yeah Viners often have the star, but theres also the occasional one with the V.
It's their font (The Vicini one was a more squared off font)
Reckon he may of been sponsored by bikesports? or like you said could be a local firm that put it together for him or something. -

thanks for your help
Could anyone help me ID this frame. It says Bikesports but has a M on the crown fork shoulders and also a V on the down tube. Campagnolo dropouts/Ends Frame number 6089 & 60r on the forks. I'm thinking Mercian?
