Sweet. Can you make Wordpress themes so there's some form of CMS for adding things down the line?

No, because wordpress is a pig and themes need to be kept always up to date.
However I could set up a wordpress site for you, adapting an existing theme which you can them add things to later on.

Could u work up a type of online museum/gallery for some football antiques that we have?

It depends on how interactive you want it. If just a gallery then sure, assuming you've got some good photos of the items. If you want something to be able to filter by date/type etc. then I don't really have time to do it justice.

There's be little or no interaction. I envision a few lines of text as exposition followed by a few photos with headings and contact details at the end.

Hello,
I do logos and jerseys for mountain-biking events. I've been doing it for years in my free time and despite being generally a crap designer, I've managed to build up enough of a following to actually charge for it. So can you build me a simple wordpress gallery (I use Bridge Child theme on my proper website, I think this would work well).
I'm looking to put together some more websites as portfolio pieces, so if anyone needs one building then get in touch.
I'm not charging anything at the mo, so you would just need to buy the domain (about £10 a year) and hosting (often free).
Static websites are ideal rather than blogs that need constant updating.
As an example I built the North London Thundercats website:
