pls don't do that. but you ould desticker the rims, change the white saddle and bartape for black and it will look awesome.
-

I haven't got those rims / saddle or bars so that's relatively simple.
Have you tried spraying carbon? Would only want to do one colour. The giant paint job is a little dull
-
• #4
will you spray ove the giant colours or will you remove the colours first?
-

That is precisely the sort of question/ answer that I need. I would obvious prefer minimal hassle.
Have come across this, which all though very dubious of, is getting a really good write up..

I would also be interested on how the spray.bike stuff performs on carbon

I've stripped and sprayed a carbon bike - it's a bit of a hassle but it's perfectly doable. It won't be a perfect finish but if you're not fussed, get to it!
Sand everything, primer everything, then I just rattle canned it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

If the GP4000 are anything like my GP4Seasons then the 28c measure up about 25mm. Lovely road tyres, OK for fast stuff on pitted/rough tarmac but not especially "all road".
-
• #10
I've got both already and on a wider rim the gp4000s measure up wider than the 4 seasons.
But I've also ridden my 28c 4 seasons on single track, gravel roads etc & they performed admirably. Rode all over the Coed y Brenin mountain bike park no probs.

Paint scheme wise think I'm going to give those spary.paints a try, as they're only £7..
Think I'll keep it simple, tape up the giant logos on the down tubes and then spray the rest of the frame/forks one colour. Was thinking of going for something lairy, but actually quite tempted by either of these colours

Excuse the crap photos, here is how much clearance you get with 28mm conti 4 season tyre at the back. I took these just before taking the bike apart. Not much mud clearance, but I never had any problems with that.

if frameset is new you'll be pissing away the warranty surely by painting it?
-
• #15
Were it new this would be true - but I picked up the frameset off @itpit second hand and I'm not a fan of the giant paint job

I love my Defy (alu) disc. But, like you not overly keen on the colours, gonna leave it this year then have it sprayed, probably a muted dark colour (maybe charcoal or some version of a military green).
Those contis must be huge, I have 28mm gravel kings on mine, with room to spare. -

I could have most of the parts you need. I have a crash damaged gt Grade carbon 105 2015. Loved it, so I got a 2016 Ultegra, meaning all of the kit of the crashed one will be for sale.
Full hydros (the expensive ones), grail wheelset, 105, everything. Drop me a pm if interested -

Also just ordered a few more pieces in the planetx flash sale..
Some challenge Strada Bianca Tyres
&
Vision hubs which I think I'll build up onto DT Swiss rims

I have the same bike, but i've barely changed a thing except the saddle to white fizik Antares and changed the tires to Vittoria open corsa 27s for matchy green and white bits. The way I look at it is this bike geo was designed to be ridden over the cobbles at flanders/Roubaix so a new paint job is a bit pointless
-

Yep - I would only be doing a new paint job myself, as I'm very happy for this bike to look a little ratty - def. not going to splash out hundreds on a professional job.
If any wannabe painters btw would like to paint this (and paint whatever they wanted on it) I would be very happy for that to happen :)

Some crazy bargains to be had. Picked up Tyres, and both hubs just over £100.
Picked up a 2015 Giant Defy Advanced Frameset which I'm going to build as a lightweight(ish) disc brake carbon roadie with 28c tyres - happy if it's under 9kg.
This frame
Parts so far include from the parts box:
Brakes: TRP Spyres
Partial 105 11 speed 5800 groupset
Fizik Arione (black)
Thomson Stem (black)
Conti GP4000ii 28c
Carbon post
Sram bar tape (black)
Needs:
Crankset - thinking Ultegra 6800
Wheelset: Stans Grail or similar that is potential to be tubeless down the line
Bars 44cm - no idea.. Zipp?
Compressionless cabling
ALSO - very tempted to respray myself, but I'm not sure if that's a terrible idea, anyone had any experience home spraying carbon?
As I'm building this up it means my silver 2012 caadx which was on road duties will now become my town bike.
spec
Silver thomson stem & post
1x10 shifting with Gevenale(Retroshifters)
Archetype to ultegra wheelset
