• Obviusly bit of a niche one this, but it is with a heavy heart I am selling my 20's/30's EF RUSS bike, all build up (pretty much) period correct. Don't really want to part with it but Mrs Jeff's 3 bike rule, and the fact it is too small for me really, and hence not getting much use now I've left the green climes of Hackney and it's canal side commute. I only had it a year or so-build thread is here https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/262211/.

Can be collected up East London or Greenwich.

    Full build is for sale.

EF RUSS 1920's/30's road frame frame-hand build in Battersea with Reynolds High Manganese butted tubing (Pre 531). pretty small frame- I'll measure it and update tomoorw but from the top of my head I think it's 20" seat tube, 21 1/2 inch top tube. Paint is tatty but possibly original-certainly old.

Chainset is Nickel plated williams, from the 30's I think. Wheels are Dunlop Light Alloy 26 1 1/4 on Solite fixed/geared flip flop hubs.

    £325

  • 4.saddle is a rare B10 saddle very early. In VERY bad nick so perhaps best to use a different saddle for every day riding-although this does hold up to short rides it's not very comfortable and is easily damaged.

  • and the price is ?

  • sorry, thought I'd updetd and added the price but musn't have saved. Added now above.

  • Wonderful!

  • Looks like 26 1 1/4 rims with Schwalbe HS-130 tyres?

  • oh yes, remembered the thread and went back there to read it again.
Great price...tempted, but literally no space :(

  • Btw according to this, your frame is from the 30s and made by the man himself almost certainly:

    http://www.classicrendezvous.com/British_isles/Russ_Ernie.htm

  • Btw there's still a cycle shop (Luciano Cycles) at 99 Battersea Rise, where this frame was built in Ernie's shop.

  • Lovely bike! In your build thread you said there is "a slight looseness in the head clip/fork the leaves avery slight wobble". Did this ever get fixed/a top nut put on?

  • .

  • It's pretty much fixed. I got a top nut that more or less fits (although maybe a tiny bit of a mm too large.) There is a very slight movement to it but nothing that is ever noticable when riding,-it just annoyed me really. If the headclip is fitted and tightend up correctly there is really no problem I ever noticed-I rode it quite a bit last year-I just don't really have space for a bike thatdoesn't quite fit me now.
If you were interested in buying the bike you're welcome to come and have a look first if you like. I'm in East London, but can bring the bike to central if needed.

  • I'm from Bristol but in East London tomorrow morning by chance
, could I view the bike?

  • Sorry, only just saw this message-weekend of heavy DIY so hadn't checked. I'm in at home now if your still in East London, if not let me know when your next here, or shoot me a message and we can try sought something out...

  • Need to shift this so have decided to split and end this advert. Frame et al on ebay, wheels on here. Please ignore/close this thread.

  • so nice this bike-- if it was a bit bigger i would love that frame-- good luck selling it--
