Thanks for the well wishes all (and the cards from some).
The past month has been pretty terrible and the accident was made worse by the fact that it was one of the only times I've not worn a helmet in recent times (something I feel dumbfounded by - I won't ever be able to come to terms with that decision so I'd ask for leeway from you guys on that for now).
Basically, I got nudged from the back by a car, this changed my direction and I went into the back of a parked flat back truck at over 30km/h (leading with my head, arm and headtube).
The damage to my body was pretty severe:
- fractured skull
- broken cheekbone
- broken nose
- broken jaw
- broken front tooth
- broken wrist
- broken ribs
It's been a lesson for me in a number of ways and, after surgeries on my skull, brain and wrist, I'm now having to come to terms with what happened psychologically as well as focussing on rehabilitation physically.
Everyone's support through this really has gotten me through and continues to buoy me.
Pictures of arm and bike for a little context shortly.
Thanks again all and ride safe.

Can't say I'm too disappointed the photos aren't uploaded... think imagination is enough!
Heal up and good luck with what I hope is a speedy recovery! Get back on the bike as soon as you are fit... beat those pesky psychological demons!

Sounds painful!
LFGSS is the last place you'll get a lecture about helmet wearing.
Who knows, maybe the absence of a helmet saved you torsional brain damage.
Glad you made it through and that you'll return to full fitness in time. Good luck with the recovery.

Ouch! Shit.
Don't worry about the lid, what about the prick that drove into you?!
Hope the recovery is going well.

Jaysus! When did this happen? Completely missed the thread.
Heal up Dom.

Happened back on 5 Feb and I had just over three weeks in hospital after that.
Not a clue what happens in the case of a hit and run in Japan but, basically, if no one saw it and there's no CCTV, they may well presume I went straight into the back of a truck for no reason.
All of this aside, I'm genuinely just happy to be alive right now and I'm just steeling myself for the recovery ahead.

Proper Rinko, just needs mudguards and a nice bag.
Me hoping you are in one reasonable piece again and recovering well.
Saw this on FB, thought I ought to share here as Dom has a few friends on the forum. (Fellow buyers mainly)
