Rando bag on Croix de Fer (carbon fork)

  • I've been scratching my head for a while about this one, this is no doubt the perfect place to ask...

I'd like to run a 'Rando bag' on my 2015 Genesis CDF30, which comes with a carbon fork that features only low rider bosses. Here's the thinking...

Ideally, I'm after a bag from Swift and mounting with a Velo Orange Randonneur Rack.

Would P clamps hold sufficiently, without looking awful?

If not, firstly, in order to do the above, properly, I'd need to change my fork (?), what would be the recommended fork of choice?

Secondly, I saw somewhere talk of using a Nitto M18 or Marks Rack with the extended struts and using the existing bosses, does anyone have any experience of this, the M18 doesnt have a decaleur as suggested is needed?

  • The Riv Marks rack is what you want. The struts work fine on low rider mounts. I'm using one on my disc trucker. Solid as a roxk, but I'm using the mounts on the top of the crown as well. But I've seen plenty of BlueLug builds that have both the struts mounted to the low rider bosses.

As for the decaleur, no need for integrated ones, this works just fine and dandy http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/accessories/racks-decaleurs/vo-decaleur-kits.html

  • I've been looking for a bag for my croix de fer and like this
