  • Hey,

Got any silver box rims 32 hole that you want to sell me?

Going for a shallow / narrow classic wheelset.

    What you got?

  • I've got a pair of unused silver tb14 's .28 hole though if your interested ?@bazschmaz

  • Hey Tom,

I did clock them earlier... got to be silver though. Thanks for the heads up.

  • @greg - thanks but 32 holes will match the silver hubs I am planning on lacing them too

  • @bazschmaz Did you find a set?

I am looking for a single Mavic Open Pro Rim, silver, 32h.
Not necessarily new but must have not been used with a brake.

Let me know if you manage to find yours or a job lot and happens to have a spare one...

  • Hey Vince,

No sweat, if i happen to source an extra one or come across a place that does them super cheap I'll shout you via a pm.

    Everyone else - still looking.

  • I ended up buying 2x Ambrosio Excursion rims on Planet X as they have an additional 25% off on sales items, making the pair of rims only £30 + £3.95 postage.

    http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/RIAMEXC/ambrosio-excursion-rim

I now have 1x spare used Mavic Open Pro - in 32h / silver which has been used with a brake so give me a shout if you need it...

  • That's a good deal on the rim, been needing a new wheel on my tourer for ages so I'm tempted to do the same but shouldn't be spunking the cash. Didn't you buy your spokes there too? They've got a pretty good deal on Sapim Race ones on.

  • #threadderailstart

    I need 272mm front / 280mm rear spokes.

Sapim Leader Plain Gauge Spokes are £0.19 each so that's £6.08 for 32
Sapim Race are £0.79/£0.69 each so that's £22/£25 per wheel so a bit too rich for my build.

In comparison, Araya Stainless Steel Plain Gauge Spokes are only £6.70 for 36 on eBay:

So I am likely to go for these.

  • Sapim Race are £0.39 on Planet X atm, £12.48 for 32. Jus'sayin'

  • Unfortunately, the size I need aren't £0.39, also there isn't an extra 25% off on them.

Araya / Halo spokes for me it is.

[Planet X track hubs are also down to a measly £7.49 each so you could build a brand new half decent wheelset for £60]

  • Fair dos. I did see the hubs and am grappling with the impulse to buy all the things...

  • I don't even need any of this stuff. I had a spare rear wheel with a used silver Open Pro rim and a black Condor Uno hub. I also have a spare rear silver Condor Uno hub.

Now I have bought 2x Ambrosio Excursion Rims and a front PX track hub in black.

I should just have sold that rear wheel...

  • I may need a new rear wheel, think my rim is dying, how much would you want for it?

  • I will need to rebuild the rear wheel with my spare silver Condor hub first...
But once that's done, probably £35 (as it is missing the track nuts and one serrated washer).

  • I'm sure I could source those parts

  • Hey Vince,

I'll take that rim, though it'd need posting which sounds like ball ache.

The excursion rims are really nice, my current whilst is a pair of them on miche hubs. I just want silver. For matchy.

Edit - used an additional code pxliquid25 and got a pair of ambrosio excursion rims for £14.99 each.

Now what hubs - Suze do a high flange non NJS track hub set that look the same. The decals might be straighter but thats fine because now we can fix it.

  • Glad to hear is it all sorted. Sorry for the thread hijack.

Internet says Ambrosio Excursion ERD is 600.5mm.

Don't forget to get rim tape & inner tubes (£0.75 in the sale).

I wish I'd ordered some of those PX GutterSnipper tyres as they are £7.49 minus 25%

  • @Vince What is ERD?

Might take that pair of silver hubs if they are going?

  • It is the Effective Rim Diameter - you need to know this measurement and the hub flange diameter in order to order spoke the right length.

I will rebuild the rear silver hub on the used Open Pro rim and sell the front one only so I will drop you a PM with photos.

  • i got a 32h hole Mavic MA3 set pretty much brand new only been used on the track...
Brake surface has never been used..

u can have them for 50,- euro

  • @Mancini I have rebuilt that used silver Mavic Open Pro rim on a silver Condor Uno fixed / fixed track hub.
So perfectly true laterally & radially.

Although freshly rebuilt, it was done with used parts so the rims shows wear and a very minor dent. Eight of the spokes were scuffed when I derailled, however I have moved them onto the inside of the non drive side so they are less visually intrusive. It is missing the serrated washer on one side.

Anyway, yours for £35 as mentioned, including rim tape / inner tube / Specialized Armadillo 700c x 23mm tyre.

@bazschmaz I have a that spare front track hub if you want it.
Seeing that I managed to pick up a new one on PX for cheap, how does £5 sound for it.

  • On reflection I don't think I'm going to build up the ambrosio rims i got from planet x, so before I return them if anyone wants them at the discounted price of £14.99 a rim then lemme know...
