Yes, the 9s Synchro levers were made - Record & Veloce variations - starting in model years 1998 ... what was basically the same lever was re-used with a different mounting as the 9s bar-end shifter.

I also recall reading somewhere that you can make your own by pinching parts out of the TT bar end shifters but im not 100% sure if its fact but given what the above poster said it would seem to make sense.

I have the Record version and it's great. The action is very solid and it's no been converted to a bar mount with some makeshift appropriation! Buying it? Want to see some photos of this conversion? It's sacrilegious and I love it!

you could just use a friction shifter. I used to friction shift on 10 speed without issue.

friction....yuk!

Indexing on DTS is an unnecessary complication of a design, who's beauty lies in the simplicity (although retrofriction were the acme).
I almost feel nostalgic for Simplex SLJ...

The precision of the beautifully indexed down tube shifting of the 9 speed campy eliminates all the dangers and problems of trying to line up gears whilst in the 'suicide' position at speeds. The 'unnecessary complication of a design' as you put it is what I consider the pinnacle of down tube shifting. I'd never return to friction after using indexed gears. I'm not a fan of regression!

Agree, I have the veloce version and using it on an 8 speed block (with 9 speed veloce mech) and the shift is lovely. Proper solid mechanical feel. Makes all bar mounted index shifters feel vague and plasticy!
Hi all,
Seen someone selling 9 speed Campagnolo Record downtube shifters and was wondering if they actually were in production. I never heard that the downtube shifters were also produced for 9 speed groupsets.
Can anyone confirm of their existence/production?
