I've just moved from Factors to Bont Vaypors as it happens. Not for the same reason, but sort of similar - found with the velcro is was hard to get tightness right - I'd be a bit too loose on the velcro and overcompensate with the ratchet, so it would be too tight around there.
Love the boa on the Bonts. Not sure there's less pressure or not - but there's definitely a feeling of better all-round fastening. I guess the heat moulding helps there too. -

How do you get on with (ordinary, non-cycling) lace-up shoes? If they don't aggravate the scar tissue, then Giro Empire are an option.
Having said that, I'd imagine Boa fastenings would also distribute the pressure more evenly: the fastening crosses the foot more times than three straps, so each crossing carries less pressure.

Boa fastening are more easily fine tuned meaning you can balance the level of pressure versus tightness. My experience on my pair of Giro Codes(velcro and ratchet) versus my old S-works XC shoes (with Boa) is that I much prefer Boa and pressure is more even. That being said your foot has a specific issue AND shoe design has an impact too. I also find that my Giro shoes have quite a stiff, firmly padded tongue compared to the thinner specialized shoes. Go try some on is the best bet.

My boa laces are loosening up when I bend my foot. Can actually see the dial turning. Assume that means the mechanism is broken and they'll need replacement. Strangely occured on both boas on my right foot, the left's fine.

Are the wire laces from BOA dials interchangeable between different dial types?
I have snapped the wire on a Righthand L5.
Can't find them for sale in London (or the UK).
Waiting for BOA to respond directly.
Lake say talk to BOA.
Was thinking I could buy an alterntative BOA dial and just use the wire portion so I can keep riding. -

Wire is probable the same but the dial isnt . Sworks go straight across in two sets but some cross over as one. Try hargroves
I'm getting some problems with the fastening straps of my current shoes (Giro Factors) irritating some old scar tissue on the top of my foot. I'm wondering if moving from the old three strap fastening method to Boa laces may help.
To whoever uses them here, how do you find them?
Does the lacing mechanism mean that there is less pressure from the tongue of the shoe on your foot but overall the shoe is still really tight? Or is the tongue still pressed against the top of the foot quite hard? I'd assume the latter, but just wanted to check
