• Hi all, I've picked up a Vitus frame recently, the seller said it's a Carbone 9 and I'm in the process of researching period correct parts to build it up. One issue I immediately noticed though is that the front mech hanger is missing. I suppose with the hanger gone you could use a clamp on front mech, but I'd like to keep everything original, so can anyone tell me where to source one from please? The only option I've found so far is some unbranded on from eBay:

I'm not sure if that hanger is compatible though, so if anyone has any ideas it would be really appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Not sure where you'd get a vintage Vitus hanger, but my old Giant used to use a front mech hanger similar to the one shown above. Looking at the position of the threads on the frame the angle will be wrong I'd say. Looks like you need one like this.

Giant appear to do quite a few different shapes/styles: http://www.moruyabicycles.com.au/contents/en-uk/d87_front-derailleur.html

  • Hi, thanks so much for your reply, some really helpful links there, just need to work out which hanger will be compatible with my frame or put up with a band on mech or mech hanger...

  • I have one from a Vitus, but a 787 not a Carbone.Hole centers are are 20mm.It isn't branded Vitus just plain stainless steel. You are welcome to it if it is any use.

  • Wow, thanks Mig, I'll measure how wide apart the fixing holes in my frame are and get back yo, really appreciate your offer!
