Been running suguino messenger with stock ring and a variety of cogs for a while.
settled on a ratio that suits my commute (46 x 18) happy to go a little higher, but no lower.
I didn't really know about chain wear and didn't eyeball how bad the chainring was, old chain elongated about 1/4 of an inch. I chucked out the cog and chain, but the chainring looked fine so I left it. - mistake. New chain has been on on about 900miles ago with a lightly worn cog and is looking pretty worn already. was silent for a short while and now noisey AF.
So, soon as spring arrives I'm upgrading at least the ring, cog & chain. giving me time to save for something a bit bling if it's worth it.
SO all fitting onto a dolan PC. 60cm, halo aerotrack rear (for now)
Q1) anyone renown for their durability in the world of chainrings/cogs? (My commute is 150miles+ per week, stop start london,brakeless)
Q2) any reason to move to 144bcd other than to use particular rings?
Q3) Omniums going to actually be a noticeable upgrade?
I KNOW I don't need the nicest parts for a commuter, BUT, pretty much all my riding is my commute (sadly) so I want to enjoy it as much as possible, and a well honed machine is a big part of that for me.
I'm with you! Commuting in style ftw.. personally I find commuting to be one of the nicest parts of my working day :-)

Formatting Help
Don't worry about formatting, just type in the text and we'll take care of making sense of it. We will auto-convert links, and if you put asterisks around words we will make them bold.
Tips:
Create headers by underlining text with ==== or ----
To *italicise* text put one asterisk each side of the word
To **bold** text put two asterisks each side of the word
Embed images by entering: ![](https://www.google.co.uk/images/srpr/logo4w.png) That's the hard one: exclamation, square brackets and then the URL to the image in brackets.
* Create lists by starting lines with asterisks
1. Create numbered lists by starting lines with a number and a dot

For syntax highlighting, surround the code block with three backticks:
```
Your code goes here
```
Just like Github, a blank line must precede a code block.
If you upload more than 5 files we will display all attachments as thumbnails.
