Sounds interesting. First glance I thought you'd covered it in glitter!

Looks like a fun project. Under 20 will be interesting!
I am interested in the 3x7 shifters and maybe front mech (and rear for spares - is any of it salvageable?). Need to check Mrs c00ps' neglected / very occasional bike in the garage in the morning...
Where are you for pick-up?

It spends its life outside in the rain, while my besties live in the garage

I'm in Cambridge but sure we can work something out. Going to start taking bits off at the, weekend
-

Great. I'm in St Neots, so not far and Mrs works in Cambridge.

And I work in knapwell, convenient to sort domething . I'll let you know when the bits are off. I thought that under 20 was some sort of target, but realised there was no saddle or sratpost when I weighed it....

Excellent. No rush, as I'm away this weekend, so probably won't be able to collect until the middle of next week anyway.
Having checked this morning, I'm interested in shifters, fr mech, cranks and cassette, dependent on condition.
It will be great to see how much weight you can shed from this.
P.S. Sorry for thread derail!

Sjs has some schwalbe kojaks for sale recently, they have been pretty great so far
-
• #11
maybe i'm a bit too hopeful to get under 20lbs.....lets see...time and a cash budget....
-
• #12
I've got an urge to put drops on it....
-
• #13
........do it!
-
• #14
Shit the bottom bracket is well stuck, oddly the metal cup is non drive side. And it looks like previous owner has put the adjusting cup drive side.....didn't think it was possible. Drive side undo clockwise and anti for non drive side? Might need a buddy and a breaker bar.
-
• #15
Oh my, even thinking of fitting caliper brakes and ditching the vbrakes.....you guys are bad!
-
• #16
V brakes with tektro RL520 levers will work nicely, if you want drops.
-
• #17
Have some Deda rhm02 bars 42cm with tektro levers already on em, could do em cheap if you go that way. Will have to post as I'm in Cheshire, but let me know, sure we could find a price right for both of us, also have some tektro R539 calipers, so could do the whole lot.

First job is to get that bb out....
-
• #19
bollocks, tried heat and the damn thing won't budge, even with a 2 foot breaker bar no joy.
the adjustable cup was drive side though, so wondering if someone has put it in the wrong side and forced it....
non drive side unscrews anticlockwise, yes? -
• #20
at last.....bottom bracket is out.
i borrowed a 5foot scaffold bar and literally hung of the end of it.....it did come with a fight though.
the fixed cup was non-drive side so it had been installed correctly

As it stands ran out of cash as I've got another racer to build, just need to lose the casette. The seat post was a pain as I bought a 27.2 which was too big. Turns out it's an eldridge frame which is 26.4

was going to sell this, but the rear mech has given up so now don't want the hassle.
so single speed? sure it's been done loads of times.
it currently weighs a porky 27.5 lbs so was thinking that i could get it to under 20?
i'll ditch the 3x7 trigger shifters, remove the front and rear mechs (shimano alivio), obvoiusly get rid f the 7 speed hyperglide and triple cranks. tyres will have to go to smoothies,,,,budget is a consideration...
is someone wants any of the bits, shoot me an offer.
