Proper bargain! The Dura Ace bits are from the 7400 groupset. Lasting bits.
A very smart conversion, great frame, lovely commuting/training/workhorse at a really bargain price. I understand why you're reluctant to sell!

Now sold to a very good home :)
A.E.Elsegood Minster - made by Ellis Briggs and finished by Arnold.
All information about Arnold, his bikes and business can be found here. The 'story' of this one this can be found from post 61 onwards
Some photos at the bottom but loads more are [here].(https://flickr.com/photos/96979340@N04/sets/72157659345330936).
This is a lovely chrome frame that EB have confirmed was made by them in the 70's, probably by Jack Briggs, for Arnold as a favour when Arnold was chocca with work.
I found this frame on eBay and it went up to EB for re-tracking and some work on the head tube (it's all in the CP thread). It was built up by @hillbilly at BC with the mixed DA 8-speed from my blue Minster, Jim also wired up the brand new Shim hub Dynamo and lights.
I've used it as my commuter, workhorse and a training bike ever since. IMO, it's lovely to ride, reliable, pretty damn good to look at, with a lovely history on and off the forum and loads of potential to be whatever you fancy with it.
I'm not keen to sell it really, but a post-marriage clear out beckons and I need to face facts that I have too many bikes that do roughly the same thing. I'm also having some work done on my CX bike to basically turn it into a more modern version of this. Soooo.....
Full spec:
Ellis-Briggs 531DB chrome frame and forks 58cm square CTC. Finished by A.E.Elsegood. Campagnolo dropouts and fork ends. 126mm rear spacing (running 130 DA hub).
The Frame has been checked over, re- tracked and had some work done on the steerer and headtube at EB in the last year. Some of the chrome has come away around the seat cluster and the bare steel has exposed, I have treated this with Linseed oil and rub it back occasionally. There is minimal pitting that EB have checked and given the thumbs up too.
Groupset is a Dura Ace 8speed mix (can't recall all the numbers exactly.....) running as 7 speed with the bottom gear tuned out, due to 126mm rear spacing, the rear DA hub is 130mm but is built with a nurled end mom drive side to make wheel changes a lot easier.
Front wheel is Shimano DH 3N80 dyno Hub (less that 6months old) laced to a tidy Open Pro.
Rear wheel is as mentioned 8 speed DA hub laced to another tidy Open Pro.
Lights - Q-TEC BM 6v 2.4W front light and Seculite Plus rear. All proffesionally wired by the hairy ginger one very recently.
Orginal TA band on bottle cage
Tektro R556 brakes front and rear
Pasela PT's front and rear in good nick (25's) and I will include a spare new tyre.
Carradice SQR clip
K-Alloy seat post- it's bloody long and properly greased up.
Brooks bar tape and B17 (I think) saddle
Il Primo Extra Giro di Sicila engraved bars (420mm) and GB Spearpoint stem, stem mounted old school bell & Velo Orange bar ends.
Full Tortec mudguards, with much front flappage.
Can come with SPD's or 105 SPD SL's
Bits to know - The rust, patina, dull steel, photgenic tarnish - whatever you want to call it, will need to be looked after, not a lot as its not structural, but when you clean it, give those areas some love too.
The BB creaks, this has always been the case. It's the BB (new when built up) not the shell and I have been happy to live with it. This is because I'm a huge masher, really quite heavy and I'm used to older frames giving me back chat as I push squares through them. However I understand that if it's a problem for others, I can get it changed, or arrange for it to be changed at BC before, or a reasonable time after the sale, say 30 days as its really newsworthy at the mo.
I can also dig out all the recipts for the work that's been done and pass them on with the frame.
In an ideal world I'd love £500, as I've probably put more than double into it, but that's not going to happen so I'm looking for
£450-435 Ono>£430>£425>£415> £405Viewings, (in SE1) and test rides are very welcome. I'll even make you a cup of tea and a bit of cake AND let you play with the dog.
Cheers
Rob
