I tested a gabba last night.
Felt exactly like a rapha soft shell Base + standard jersey. Except it's easier to layer a base layer.Buy a soft shell Base Layer.

The stiff material makes for awesome pockets though.

Just buy one

Trouble with heavy base layers is that you are stuck in them - a gabba with a thin base layer gives you loads better control of temperature as you can unzip it when you overheat. This is why I prefer thin mesh baselayers to merino now, even in winter.

Fair point.
I have the soft shell Base for our coastal races. Stick it under your clubs jersey, combine with roubiax bib shorts, and your set. None of this racing in jackets shite.
If budget allowed I'd get a gabba too I guess.

My minor beefs with gabbas are:
Small pockets
I have a skinny ass and so the bumflap gets caught on the back of the saddle sometimes.Otherwise, its awesome.

X bionic bike beaver partly for the name partly coz its Da shiz. Or just get a gabba

Fold yer bumflap up bruv.

The softshell base is a really weird fit. Tight around the front of armpit and really short.
It's a tech boob tube.

I'm totally spamming this with rapha.

Although as a short arse in a large gabba. I was impressed with the lack of folding up around the tummy.

for years I thought gabba is just a nickname for rapha

Long or short sleeve? I like arm warmers but will I stay warm enough to go short sleeve?
And do only mugs pay £150 for Gabba?
-
• #19
I fear you may have missed most of the sales, prices back closer to normal now that the weather is turning I expect?
I bought short sleeve and nano flex arm warmers, I run hot, and am awkward sizing wise (short, big chest) and thought the long sleeve would be too long.

Got mine from a mega sale for 100€. Went for the short sleeve version for versatility to be used with arm warmers if needed.

This is the thread in which you answer the question:
"Which winter jersey should I buy?"
