30mm, summat like Strada Bianca, or maybe 32mm at a squeeze, I ran 32mm paselas on mavic a719s in an Equilibrium 853 frame, quite tight.

Thanks jontea. Hmmm, head: Equilibrium, heart: Bowman Pilgrims...

Don't know much about Bowman, seems decent, maybe have a look at Pinnacle Arkose for ali frame, bit cheaper and well received on here. Steel may be a bit comfier for road use, unless you want the stiffness of an ali frame?

New 2016 forks have a bit more clearance (28c + guard/32c w/o). Also +5mm added to chainstays to improve clearance (420mm)...

Saw the 2016 frameset on facebook but it would make me run to the painters to change the horrible (imho) paint design and make the frameset as expensive as the Pilgrims. Looked at Arkose as well but to me it looks too much like a cyclocross bike with the big a-c. Bike will be my only road bike and needs to be sundays best and winter bike with guards.

Sounds like you need to decide whether you want a steel or alu frame

My thoughts exactly. Two completely different frames being considered.
I'm looking at an Equilibrium Disc as a year round roadbike. Does anybody know what the biggest tyre is that would fit on a widish rim? Riding on 28s for the past few years but wouldn't mind sizing up.
Thanks.
