• Just saw, what appeared to be a serious collision shortly after 9:30 this morning on Camberwell Road, before the junction of Albany Road, towards Elephant and Castle. It must have happened just before 9:30, didn't see the rider, but an ambulance is still there and there was police presence, traffic, except for bikes were stopped totally.

The front wheel of the bike is totally bent and there was puddles of blood nearby. I hope the rider was being sorted out in the ambulance which might indicate he/she wasn't too badly injuried.

The route is my daily commute, which makes it that much harder to witness.

  • Woman on Twitter says the cyclist was hit by a van driver. Fingers crossed for them:

@TfLTrafficNews camberwell road near the junction of Albany road has slow moving traffic because of a cyclist + van collision x

  • I live just down the road from there and that is not a pleasant junction, part of he problem lies with how short a time cars from Albany road get to turn out left or right, lots of people red light jumping.

Not a safe place to cycle

  • it wasn't a van, it was a normal car, unless there was a hit + run and the car behind the van stopped. Also, it wasn't the actual junciton, it was about 15m before the junction?
