i had a gazelle with this cabling issue too...mine had a cinelli bb shell ? quite interesting but worked fine . i guess the shifters were TT style originally ?

probably a custom build and the rider wanted the cage slightly off centre if its a TT bike !

Hey Fisk, could you tell me the exact length of the chain-stays please? Thinking I could run this beauty with a magic gear. It's the length from centre of BB to centre of drop-out.

the cable guide for the rear derailleur is on top of the chainstay.
How does that work? Does the frame need a cable guide above the BB?

More options will work. Without using extra cable guides, the rear mech would still work, because the cable pull is the same. But the cable will wrap around the stay.
You can solve this with a cable guide above the BB or a cable guide under the chainstay. In my opinion a cable guid under the chainstay is most elegant.
