Looks epic
What were the personal compliments for the special Rossin frame set?
-
• #3
Thanks HHC , I think he was just saying that they compliment me on the frame set. The reply was translated from Italian to English so some of the grammar seems a bit off.
-
• #4
Oh.
And there I was thinking they had some specific special gear for you cause of the frame.
You have any plans?
-
• #5
Yeah the grammar is a little confusing, I was looking for links myself until I realized what he was talking about.I'm planning on a Campagnolo Record Titanium 9 speed groupset if I can get my hands on one. I'm waiting for a Campagnolo Zonda wheelset to arrive that stars7 very kindly sold to me. 3ttt Pro Titanium stem and 3ttt Prima bars. Selle Italia Flite saddle. That's if I can find and afford everything. I'll post photos as components start to arrive!

Smoothed tig? lovely. Digging that seat stay to fairing arrangement a whole lot.

• #9
I'd love to know who it was made for. Probably someone juiced up to shit.

You and me both Chadders81 , I can't find any more info anywhere but I'll keep looking. It's from the late 90's so I think its a fair bet it was once powered by horse tranquilizers!!

Some of the components I've bought for this build have now started to arrive in the mail including a Campagnolo Record Titanium seatpost which was difficult to find at a reasonable price... but not impossible!

looks at the month and weather forecasts...
You realise by the time this is built, you will be waiting 6 months for another dry day?
So you have more than enough time for loads of bike porn photos. -
• #16
Haha! Thanks mate, I hope it's porn worthy! And thanks for the northern hemisphere weather update too, but I live in Australia so I'm hoping this bad boy will be ready just in time for the long hot summer ahead. It's all in the timing! ; )

Lucky you.... I hope you get sunburn.....
No but seriously that's awesome, you'll need it super aero to get the air cooling while you fry in the Oz heat.

• #19
Haha! To tell you the truth man I live in Melbourne, so it's just as likey to be a short cold summer!

this is going to be an absolute banger ben, cant wait to see it finished!!
-
• #21
Thanks Adam, I'm pretty excited about this project. It should be a nice bike to ride too hopefully!
-
• #22
Awesome plan.
So, white and blue Splash tape? :D
-
• #23
If you could find some NOS Ciclolinea Pelton Shade blue/white bartape it would suit that paintjob amazingly.
That's a big if. Someone really needs to release a tribute/remake of that tape.
-
• #24
Pelten shade would be better suited to older bikes than this one imo.

I do love that Pelton shade bartape, but I think Carabo is right in this case, it might be a bit too vintage for this particular build.
Hi all,
I just recently bought this 1998-99 Rossin Krono frame set off ebay. I probably paid way more than I should've, but I was on the look out for a road bike project and I couldn't stop drooling over this one. Before I committed to buying it I contacted Andrea Chiarini at Grouppo Bici Srl (Rossin) to see if I could find out some additional info. He was very generous with his time and information about the frame set and his reply convinced me to pull the trigger, although it also left me wanting to know more about who the frame set was originally built for and what history it might have. Below is the reply Andrea sent me...
"Thanks for your message and for your Rossin product' enquiry.
Hoping that my extra info below will be helpful to you.
We are talking about a special frame from the Rossin production.
The frame, named "Krono", was made with special alloy tubes made from Columbus under the specifications requested by the Rossin' technicians. The frame was proudly made in the Rossin workshop in Milano.
Considering the serial number, considering the fork and for some other details, it seems that your frame was produced around 1998/1999 and previously sold by Math Salden as official distributor in that period. Furthermore the unconventional serial number suggest to us that probably the frame set was made for a professional or an Olympic rider.
That frame was only made to measure with a special type of TIG welding with the characteristic to use more material than classic TIG welding then the extra material would be removed by an artisan and expert hand in order to feel a smooth connection between the tubes.
Of course the special alloy material used for that frame request a special heat treatment after the welding operation.
At your disposal for any further information if needed. Let me show you our personal complements for your special Rossin frame set.
P.s: the color of your frame was named "Twin silver shadow"
Best
Andrea Chiarini "
