2004 Eddy Merckx Premium

  • Starting a thread to pressure myself into building this up, since it's currently sat in the basement still in the packaging.

It's a Merckx Premium from about 2004, the evolution of the (in)famous Team SC model.

It's the same colours as this Eurobike 2004 display model, and I'm going to use that build as inspiration:

    More to follow

  • Good luck, should be a stunner when it's built.

  • Right, I've had enough of being lazy. Build starts today, let's see how much progress I can make each lunchtime...

Veloflex Corsa 25mm and Michelin latex tubes fitted to Campagnolo Neutrons.

Bar and stem just popped in place for now - Fizik Cyrano R1 stem and Chameleon carbon bars.

(and yes, the front tyre shifted whilst I was putting it on so I need to re-do it so the logo on the rim and tyre line up)

  • God that looks good.

  • Got most of the parts together - NOS 10spd parts, Centaur chain set, front and rear mechs. Still trying to work out where I put the shifters, and my Mavic SSC calipers.

Other question is what saddle - original Flite (most likely) or an SLR (White or black)?

  • Lovely. I vote Flite.

  • This has been languishing too long - starting to make some progress.

  • Right, all done. Managed to get some time to work on it yesterday.

I was lucky enough to find a pair of unused Nucleon tubulars so swapped those out for the clinchers.

    Brakes are Mavic SSC

Drivetrain is NOS Campagnolo Centaur 10spd.

Pity the weather at the weekend is forecast to be so miserable :-(

  • Lovely ! Reminds me of my Pinarello Galileo, both are great aluminium frames
