But FFS it's the usual get her to go and try the shifters to find what feels comfortable.

She is also having the issue with crank length as the frame builder is suggesting she needs a 155mm crank. I'm not sure why this is as she's 5'6 so not too short.
Who thinks that height determines crank length?
Whoever it is, she should ignore their advice.

5'6" she'll be fine with 170mm, maybe 165mm, I know you said not modern but Campagnolo Veloce 10v silver, or Athena 11v, Ribble's are doing a deal at the moment, I've got Veloce silver on my Fondriest, steel frame, chrome forks always gets admiring glances, will post pic tomorrow, if you want.

That is very nice.
I need some knowledgeable input.
A friend is having a custom steel frame built and is very unsure of groupset and finishing kit options. She is not really sure what she wants which is difficult. She wants the bike to have racy componentry but the geometry is also relaxed for touring.
The bike is cobalt blue. She is also having the issue with crank length as the frame builder is suggesting she needs a 155mm crank. I'm not sure why this is as she's 5'6 so not too short. Anyone offer any insight?
Could someone suggest some nice groupset options apart from the usual modern SRAM/shimano/campagnolo stuff if there is anything else.
Sorry if this is very vague.
Thanks
