Yep, you need the shorter grooved octalink BB. BB-5500 is OK. Sometimes known as octalink V1 - shimano sneakily changed the spline length on the "v2"
Although, I'm not sure if italian thread, BB5500 70 x 109 (109mm is the axle length you need) exists?

BB-5500 is OK
Some BB-5500s are OK, they didn't change the model number when they changed to the longer V2 spline, so you never quite know what you're getting. Always make sure you specify V1 as being of the essence when placing an order, then if somebody sends you a V2 you can insist that they take it back at their expense.

bb-5500 exists in 70(ita)x109,5mm :) (https://nubuk-bikes.de/teileparts/antrieb/innenlager/innenlager-ita-70-1095mm-07-hollow-type-okurbelschraube/?gclid=Cj0KEQjwv6WrBRD4gbngqe7mosYBEiQAIB5oTINwm8-Bac1fnrZD-OjPJV7uUe5T5bRXcbH6uzsIbjQaApJB8P8HAQ) or here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121661466889?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&fromMakeTrack=true
@mdcc_tester thanks man! that's what i meant. i just don't want to buy the ultraexpensive dura-ace bb. it's just not fair.

Rosebikes have them in 109/ITA too
http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/shimano-octalink-bb-5500-bottom-bracket/aid:197425
as do Bike24
http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;navigation=1;search=5500;menu=1000%2C4%2C23;product=129
Both recommended shops, but you'll still have to double check whether they are V1 or V2. Rosebikes picture V1 and Bike24 picture V2, but I wouldn't trust product images from anybody. -

Almost feel like buying a couple of spares before they disappear. I can't imagine anyone would need more than a few BB's over the life of cranks

I have an Italian threaded 7700, 109.5mm in great condition for £20 posted.
Hey guys,
I really hate bottombrackes... ugh.
The 7710 bb comes only with english-threading (since it's NJS and for Keirin use etc. etc.)
The 7700 bb comes with italian-threading, but... to much $$$
Th BB-5500 bb comes in the same length (109,5mm), italian-threading... but the axle looks longer (the grooves on the axle).
But I'm not sure. Can somebody approve whether it does fit or not? (Or maybe I oversaw another bb?
