Lordy! Never heard of witnesses attempting to lift a bus of a crash victim!
Sounds serious but hopefully he'll make a speedy, full recovery.

The story linked to above has now been amended to include the detail that the victim was riding a unicycle. Hope the injuries are not as serious as being trapped under a bus would suggest.

Far too much information on the local paper's report of the story IMO. I have to say I glimpsed a long seat post and Brooks and assumed it was a fold-up bike.

Hoping the best for this guy.
The evening standard puts it on the front page, describing yesterday as a "day of carnage".

Yes a bad, bad day - I know the area, it hits home. The collective lifting of the bus is the one fragment of good news in this. Best wishes to the rider.

In my neighbourhood and at a junction I cross regularly. I think the riders ok. The whole story seems to have gone viral as my daughter in Canada has been telling me about it...

Good luck with the operation, Anthony.

There was another accident at the same place, I think , yesterday. I understand that the rider is safe but unfortunately has a broken leg. Best wishes to them and a speedy recovery.

More on Anthony Shields, who seems to have escaped from this with no life-changing consequences (apart from no longer wanting to ride a unicycle):
Apologies for the formatting; posting on my phone:
http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/cyclist-fighting-for-life-after-he-was-hit-by-bus-in-walthamstow-10282783.html
A cyclist was left fighting for his life in hospital after he was hit by a bus in Walthamstow during the evening rush hour.
The rider was knocked down by a number 212 bus in Hoe Street just before 6pm today.
He was taken to an east London hospital with serious injuries, Scotland Yard said.
The bus driver, who stopped at the scene of the accident, has not been arrested.
There were unconfirmed reports tonight that more than 100 bystanders attempted to lift the bus off the victim after he became trapped under it.
One witness tweeted: "Cyclists trapped under a bus at #walthamstow 100 people trying to lift the bus to save his life."
Motorists were advised to avoid the area while the road was closed for a police investigation.
In a statement, a spokesman for Scotland Yard said: "Police were called at 17:50hrs on Thursday, 28 May, to a bus in collision with a cyclist in Hoe Street, E17.
"The male cyclist was taken by ambulance to an east London hospital where his condition is believed to be serious.
"The bus - a route 212 - stopped at the scene. There has been no arrest. Roads closures are in place."
