My shitty old iPhone 5c has been acting up for a while and has now just gone full snide.

I need a smart phone ASAP.

Has anyone got anything knocking about...?

Have a look on amazon/ eBay. There are loads of brand new respectable looking phones with v good reviews running latest software just not a big brand name on the box. And if you break it it's cheap enough to not care. I don't advocate buying from Amazon for tax schwerving reasons but the reviews are helpful.

if you dont mind android, i have a htc one m7 lying around, i had the camera replaced by htc and they put a new back plate on, so the the back looks new. otherwise the phone is in good condition.
